F.P. Journe Donates Auction Proceeds to Help Provide Homes in Japan
At Christie’s Hong Kong sale in May, the first all-aluminium F.P. Journe Centigraphe Sport No 001 sold for an extraordinary US$465,170, close to ten times its original estimate. The sale was to raise funds to aid victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The donation ceremony took place on June 3 at the Swiss Embassy in Tokyo. Gathered for the ceremony were the Ambassador Mr. Urs Bucher, Mr. Fran?ois-Paul Journe, Ms. Yuko Fukagawa from Christie's Japan, Mr Richard Bliah, founder of the Franco-Japanese FERE foundation, and the representative of M��decins du Monde. With its program ��100 maisons pour 100 familles', the FERE Foundation is constructing temporary anti-seismic wooden houses to relocate families that are victims in the northern city of Tome.Fran?ois-Paul Journe said: I am tremendously happy that the charity sale of the Centigraphe Sport will contribute to bring relief aid to earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. In doing so, it is hard for me not to think about the endless stream of "military inspired" watches that we see advertised so much. The oodles of pilot watches, special forces watches, officer watches, the list just goes on really. Some of the most popular watches stem from this lineage, and yet I wonder who ever actually wore the watches that many of today's timepieces are based on.It is true that various elite special fighting units are given watches, or at least they have the option of purchasing them. This represents a very small number of soldiers, and I have no idea whether they actually wear the watches, are given the watches, or if it is just a cute marketing strategy. All these Omega posts are getting my Omega juices flowing. I've still got Rollie dreams, and Rolex will always be the favorite. But I've been spending a lot of time drooling over these two.

Rolex DJII vs DJ41
Everyone, I am new to this site and am in need of your thoughts. I've been researching and gathering data on the DJII vs DJ41 for a long time. I am in position to purchase one or the other, both of which are blue dial smooth bezel with oyster bracelet. I honestly do not know which way to go. I generally prefer a heavier, larger dial watch with some heft. Personally I feel the DJII is slightly larger, heavier and thus wears that way on the wrist compared to the DJ41. Both movements are solid. The DJ41 feels slightly smaller to me, but the new movement and all the R&D Rolex put into it has me truly spinning. I don't think there is a wrong decision here as both are fantastic. Whichever I choose would be my first Rolex, so the history of the 3135(6) has me slightly edging in that direction. Any advice you all can put in would be much appreciated. Just to note, I have a great relationship with a Rolex AD and he has been trying to weigh in without being biased. I don't know h
