Baselworld 2015: New Rado HyperChrome Watches (Updated with Live Photos & U.S. Prices)
Rado is known for coupling sturdy, athletic timepieces with innovative materials and designs, and the brand's new models for Baselworld are no exception. This year at Baselworld Rado introduces several new additions to its HyperChrome collection.Rado's new HyperChrome watches make use of an unusual material. Plasma ceramic is extremely durable and resistant to scratching, as all ceramic watches are. But it also is treated to have a brilliant, metallic hue. This color will not fade over time. There are three new HyperChrome automatics coming to market this year. The Rado HyperChrome Automatic XL (above) is set to launch in the fall. It has a 42-mm case, built in a monobloc (one-piece) construction. The plasma ceramic gives it a glossy gunmetal color. It also has accents in rose gold PVD on the hands and indexes. The crown is made of stainless steel and is PVD coated as well. The Automatic XL has 3 center-mounted hands and a date window at 3 o'clock. The price is $3,650.The heavy-hitter a
Watch Winner Review: Casio Pro Trek PRG550
Follow-up thoughts from Brian of Chicago who won the February 2013 watches-dealer watch giveawayIt was a delightful surprise when I was contacted by Ariel, and was told that I won the monthly drawing contest for a Casio Pro Trek watch from watches-dealer. While I like to consider myself a watch enthusiast, I had to admit that I had a severe lack of adventure/sport watches. While I had the standard tool watch, or the long lasting quartz watch, I didn't have a watch where if I were to get lost in the woods, or I had to jump out of a plane, I knew that I would be able to focus on whatever is at hand, and not worry about my watch failing me, much less helping me survive. The watch comes in a pretty nice wooden (pine?) box. It is fairly Spartan, but it does exude the sense of adventure and exploration that this watch was marketed towards. Plus, at this price point, I'm just glad that it didn't come in a clear plastic box. The instruction manual is large, but easy to understand and covers mos
Advice for AP AD in CT
I see in AP's web site there are 2 AP ADs in CT (MANFREDI JEWELS in Greenwich, and ARMSTRONG & ROCKWELL in Hartford,. I am in RI and want to check out some APs in person. Hartford is about an hr and a half, and Greenwich is 2hrs away. Witch dealer has the best stock of different models? If I'm taking a drive, I don't want to go to an AD that has a small selection. Or would I be better off dealing with the hassle and going in to NYC and go to the AP boutique?
I got the call!!!
After months of searching for the right ROC and then months of waiting after choosing it, I finally got the call that it's been overnighted!!! It's my first AP and I couldn't be more excited. The wait has been excruciating. Hopefully this isn't just a good dream, and hopefully come tomorrow I'll be unpacking it and posting some pics. Thanks for the input along the way on which ROC to go with.
