Historical Perspectives: The True And Sad Story Of J.B. Champion, Jr., The Man Behind The Most Expensive Watch Without Complications Ever Sold At Auction
On November 12, 2012, the watch collecting community watched in wonder as two of the world's most important Patek Philippe wristwatches went under the hammer at Christie's Geneva: a reference 2499 perpetual calendar chronograph in platinum?offered for sale by Eric Clapton (one of two white metal 2499s ever made, with the other belonging to Patek Philippe)?and a reference 2458 that was made especially for Joe Ben Champion, Jr. housing a movement that placed third in the 1948 Geneva Observatory competition. Each would have been the cover lot for any just about any other watch auction, but it just so happened that they were part of the same sale. On paper, many would have assumed that the Clapton 2499 would sell for more than the Champion 2458 C but many would have been wrong. Champion's 2458 was the champion of the sale, bringing in over $4 million. The winner of the watch? Alfredo Paramico, who has since sold it. Is this an authentic AP ?
Hi,I can buy this AP second-hand but it has no papers/box and I can only see a limited nr of photo's. The seller seems thrustworthy but he's not an AP expert. He doesn't know the model nr of the watch for instance (he also bought it second hand). It's a 39mm AP and from the pictures I'm almost sure it's a 15300ST.Wdyt?There seems to be one link missing. I think a new 15300ST comes with 23 links (and this one has only 22 links) ? Is it correct there should be one link more? But I have a 7inch wrist so this one will still fit I think? It's a G series AP, so this would make it a +- 2009 watch, right? Most important question: is this an authentic AP? To me, as a non-expert, only the clasp seems a little suspicious...Thanks in advance!
5116R vs 5119R
I might be missing something, but what is the difference between the old 5119R and the new 5116R presented at Baselworld this year?

A thread to discuss the merits of those Gondolo's we like the best.Remember there are no winners and there certainly are no losers.Just a discussion of which Gondolo's we like and why.Pictures are a must whenever possible, remember it's awfully hard to discuss the beauty of something without a picture. From the Patek Phillipe website:The spirit of Art DecoThe Gondolo collection, launched in 1993, is Patek Philippe's contemporary interpretation of the Art Deco style. It demonstrates Patek Philippe's commitment to form watches which figure proudly in the company's legacy. The name of the collection was derived from the Chronometro Gondolo watches that were manufactured by Patek Philippe for the renowned Brazilian retailer Gondolo & Labouriau between 1902 and 1930. There are 4 models in this category, who would like to start?
Would you flip Dblue for BP FF
Good day all. I posted in the non Rolex forum but didn't get much feedback so I'm posting here with a twist to my original post ..I'm considering adding (well perhaps flipping to add ) a Blancpain FF 5015D or a 5015C as pictured here.First, would you consider such a flip? Dollars are about the same in the Preowned market. What does the forum think of Blancpain in terms of: style, durability, and wearability? Why don't we see more of them here I guess to make this appropriate for the Rolex forum ... Would you flip a Dblue for one of these?Collection is: SD43, Dblue, Pam 690I was thinking it might be nice to have a BP for something s little different in the collection.Go Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk
