The Value Proposition: The Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch, A Fine Step Toward Truly American Watchmaking
The Weiss Watch Company has an ambitious goal: to design, manufacture, and assemble a mechanical watch not just within U.S. borders, but within the tighter parameters of Los Angeles County. Can an area known more for media moguls and perpetually flawless weather support a mechanical wristwatch supply chain? The answer is yes (with the exception of movement production – for now). The Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch is the first offering from this young start-up, and while it isn’t a full-on grand slam, there are a number of characteristics that make this a compelling option for anyone looking for a solid, casual-wear watch under $1,000. 2 OF 10 The company’s namesake founder Cameron Weiss knows a good bit about watchmaking. After becoming a WOSTEP Certified Watchmaker, he trained at both Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin, unarguably two of the most respected watch manufactures in the world. Where to find 15300?
I've been looking for a 15300 in SS with a black or blue dial for a few weeks now, but haven't had much luck. There only seem to be a handful of 15300s on the market right now, with most of them being gold or SS with a white dial.I've looked at TRF, TZ, eBay, WatchRecon, and Chrono24. Are there any others I'm missing? I've been looking at US-only watches, but wonder if it makes sense to expand to international sellers.
AP ROO 26170 v Rolex Daytona 116520
I bought my first ever AP 2 weeks ago and have owned various daytonas equipped with the outstanding 4130 movement.I've been amazed that my Daytona keeps time to 1 second per day, that's outstanding performance.I've timed my AP ROO for 14 days/nights and it is now just 1 second fast after 14 nights!!! That is simply unbelievable. My AP ROO is on a whole higher level to the Daytona, and I firmly believe the Daytona is an awesome and beautiful watch.
Ploprof vs. Sub
I recently switched from a date sub to a Ploprof 600. Ever since I havnt been able to release a feeling of remorse (or regret?) .. Will Ploprof grow on me, or will this feeling endure?I know its a deeply personal question, but was the trade bueno/no bueno?
