Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends August 28, 2015
We begin this round-up with a feature story on watch servicing and repair. Yup, servicing and repair, two words that we watch collectors and enthusiasts?absolutely dread C and yet, it is an?inevitable and essential part of?owning a fine watch. As sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, parts will become worn over time and oils will dry up as the days pass. The best way to deal with this, then, is understanding when and how to intervene-knowing?exactly what goes on when a watch gets serviced and what are the things that we should look out for when the time comes for us to send our watches in.Servicing aside, we are also taking a look at the history of chronographs, in particular, the monopusher kind. Best Chronograph: Speedmaster v. SMP (non-Bond w Sword Hands)
Looking next for a 3 dial chronograph to round out my collection.Lots of Speedmaster info on TRF and is seems like a very good choice. I have tried it on and like the fit and feel.I do like the look of the old style SMP though (I have the 2254.50 and love it).Any advice on the better choice (with reasons) would be appreciated. Also, if you have an alternative chronograph to suggest (it doesn't have to be an Omega) then please do. Pictures would help if possible. I already know about the Daytona (and like it) but it is more than I want to pay right now so I am looking at the under $5K watches. Many thanks.
Urgent help needed!
While I own Panerai's, I am NOT an expert on how to identify fakes through pictures. I can, and have, in person, but not pictures. This action is about to end. Can anyone help me here and give your views WHY it is or isn't real? Much appreciated!!!!
Would these hands work on a Daytona?
I love my Daytona but the hands are almost invisible to my eyes. Would something like the Zenith setup work on a Daytona?
