As spring approaches, we check out new watches from Panerai, Bovet, Christophe Claret, F.P. Journe and many more. We also find out how time is kept and measured; pay a visit to Roger Smith on the Isle of Man; find out more about the story of one man's hunt for his grail watch; and get a rare sneak peek into the workshops of one of the biggest brands in the world, Rolex.1. Panerai Luminor 1950 PAM557 Destro 3 Days Watch Hands-On: A Lefty PAM372If you love watches from Panerai, the new PAM 557 Destro 3 Days Watch should be one to look out for. It is essentially a left-handed version of the earlier and extremely popular PAM 372, which I reviewed, and it was only announced this year at SIHH. Here's a quick look at this new highly anticipated watch.Source: watches-dealer2. Bovet Recital 12 Watch Hands-On: The Thinnest One YetBovet is an interesting brand that offers very classically-styled watches with heavily decorated movements and highly stylized dials. AP vorPatek
I currently have a Sea Dweller 116600 as my daily wearer, and I'm in the market for two watches to give me a rounded collection:(1) AP Royal Oak or Patek 5711(2) Vintage Rolex Submariner 5513 (for classic occasions)I have some very specific demands of the 5513 so I'm preparing myself for a long search (years rather than months), so my priority is the AP or PP.I have small wrists (which suits both watches, probably a 36mm or 37mm AP) and I prefer Steel to precious metals (which is lucky given my budget!).Previously I have mainly bought new, but for this I will be looking at the used market due to my budget. To look at, I slightly prefer the Patek but only very slightly. I could stretch to the Patek (although it makes my life a lot easier not to) but only if it is justified. So my question is (finally), how does an AP Royal Oak (15450 for example) compare to a Patek Nautilus (5711 for example) in terms of quality. There is a pretty significant difference in price, so I assume the Patek mus
Speedmaster Pro 3750.50
What is considered a good deal for a brand NIB speedy pro? I can get 30% off for a BNIB from an AD here in NYC. Is that good? I know for rolex that would be amazing on most models, but how does that discount fare on an Omega Speedy? The MSRP is $4500 btw - so the price to me would be $3150.Thoughts?
Questions about Snoopy
After a long battle that saw my brains and better sense beaten to a pulp, my heart finally claimed victory, so I've now started researching the Snoopy Speedmaster in the hopes of buying one in the not too distant future. I've had a quick look around so far and there are some examples for sale but they seem quite expensively priced. I'm talking about nearly $6,000 though they're apparently in mint condition. I'm just wondering what everyone else would pay for a Snoopy today, in mint or great condition? Also are there any owners out here with pics to share :)? I'm not a die-hard fan of Peanuts, or Snoopy, but for whatever reason this Speedy just seems to tug at my heart strings. I've no idea why but that must be some sort of love lol. Copper
