10 Things to Know About the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime
Last year marked Patek Philippe's 175th anniversary. What better way to celebrate than with a series of limited-edition timepieces? Why not include the most complicated wristwatch Patek Philippe has ever created? That's just what they did. Here are ten things you need to know about it. 1. This timepiece C the Grandmaster Chime, Ref. 5175, represents a remarkable effort. More than 100,000 hours over eight years were devoted to development, production, and assembly. The movement alone required 60,000 hours to perfect. The Grandmaster Chime is the most complicated wristwatch Patek Philippe has ever created. 2. Vintage? Anyone seen this one?
Any ideas of age?
Advice: 16610LV
I am getting ready to pull the trigger and acquire the 16610LV, most likely from Tony at SD. There are a handful to choose from, however all of them are basically mint & full set(s). It boils down to a handful of serials that don't seem to matter for collecting purposes (M, Z, L I think), engraved vs. non-engraved rehaut, and $200-$800 difference for condition (LN to new without stickers). I also notice a few color variations to the bezel. If you were in my position, what would you be considering? Any thoughts or input would be appreciated. Thanks TRF-
