Richard Mille RM 028 Americas Limited Edition Diver’s Watch
Richard Mille unveils a new limited edition of his automatic diver's watch, designed for and exclusively available at retailers in North and South America. The RM 028 Americas is a 30-piece edition featuring red and white details on a black DLC titanium case. Look inside for wallpaper, pricing, and launch dates. With the introduction of the RM 028 in 2009, Richard Mille combined the exceptional case and skeletonized movement that are his hallmarks with the specific features required by divers. The RM 028 adheres to diver's watch ISO norm 6425 with water resistance of 300 meters (30 ATM) and a unidirectional bezel. The round, 47mm case is more complex than it may first appear. The nearly 1000-foot water resistance is achieved with a three-part case construction and 22 torque screws, with complete integration of the lugs into the case system. This configuration prevents accidental movement of the bezel while diving. The RM 028’s skeletonized automatic caliber incorporates a rotor wit
Christopher Ward C70 DBR1 COSC Special Edition Watch With SuperQuartz Movement
1959 Aston Martin DBR1There's a lot of overlap between watch folks and Aston Martin fans. I'm an amateur with cars, but even I've seen enough of the Bond franchise to appreciate a vintage Aston Martin. This car is a DBR1/2 that won LeMans in 1959. This is the only time that Aston Martin won that race, so this car is a very big deal indeed, and sold for a staggering 20 million UKP recently. Christopher Ward paid a chunk of change for this piece of the car:Panel from the DBR1Wonder which part of the car that is? Firewall? Anyway, they have enough metal to make a special-edition watch, 100 pieces. They are apparently big Aston Martin fans at Christopher Ward, as they had previously introduced the "C70 Aston Martin DBR1" quartz chronograph that sold out and now they're doing the limited run with panel insets from the actual car, paired with a COSC-tested movement. Here's the watch:Christopher Ward C70 DBR1 chronometerBritish racing green, with definite hints of a dashboard. Historical Perspectives: A Look At The Horological Society Of New York, Owners Of A Unique Watchmaking Library, And The Oldest Horological Society In The United States
Twenty-one years ago the Bulova School of Watchmaking in New York City closed its doors. As the staff was cleaning and packing, they came across an extensive library of horological books and ephemera. Some of the books were hand-bound in leather, adorned in gold leaf, with personal dedications from the authors. Others were extremely old, dating from the 18th century. In addition, they found hand-calligraphed meeting minutes and accounting records. All of these items comprised an incredible horological resource and they were not sure what to do with them. The staff needed to be out of the building at the end of the day and hand over the keys. Urgent calls were made and that same day a large van arrived to retrieve the library. The books were quickly piled into the van and driven off. Storage was found in NYC’s Upper West Side and the library was locked away for decades. 2 OF 14 The library in question is one of the largest collections of rare horological texts in the
