7 Modern Watches Inspired by Historical Pieces
The vintage-look trend that has been so prevalent in the watch world in recent years showed no signs of abating at last year’s Baselworld watch fair. Modern re-editions of historical pieces continue to emerge from some of the most venerable watch brands. Here are seven notable examples of “vintage-inspired” watches that launched in 2015.The Omega Globemaster the first watch to receive the brand’s “Master Chronometer” certification is technically an all-new model in the Omega portfolio, but it gets its design cues from earlier models: the pie pan dial echoes that of a vintage Omega Constellation from 1952; and the fluted bezel is derived from that of another Constellation model from 1968. The 39-mm case (available in stainless steel, yellow gold, two-tone steel and yellow gold, and Omega's proprietary Sedna gold) has a brushed finish, with two polished bevels connecting the edges of the lugs to the bezel. The top ridges of the fluted bezel have
Hamilton Watches & Hollywood Movies
Logically speaking it should not matter to me whether or not a watch I like was worn by characters in movies. Though practically it does seem to matter. The reality is that seeing characters we enjoy watching in movies (or TV shows) wearing watches we like helps boost our perception of those watches and those brands. It also helps frame the personality of watches. Most watch advertising has timepieces floating around like art in space. In reality however, their true personality comes out while on the wrist. Hamilton is a brand that has had a very long relationship with Hollywood, and whose watches can be found on numerous wrists in both films and television shows. The process of getting characters in movies to wear a watch takes three forms. First, it can be an actor who is really excited about a watch and wants their characters to wear the piece. This is actor-driven placement. Second is prop master or wardrobe placement. This is where someone in the props or costume department places
Yet Another 2-time 2254 SMP Owner
After 10 years, the 2254 is back on my wrist. When I last had one, I was a brand new owner of a 16610, which was purchased for full price with taxes (12% discounted) from my AD. At the time, I probably didn't want to admit that the SMP made my shiny Sub look a bit overpriced. My wrists were half an inch smaller back then, and I was uncomfortable with either watch, so I quickly sold both. Ever since then, I've had the 2254 on my short list of watches to buy. OMEGA's decision to discontinue it was the last provocation that I needed, but finding one at a good price was not easy because most of them that pop up on sales forums are snatched up immediately. Last weekend, I chanced upon this gently enjoyed example from a gentleman in in New York and pounced on it within 5 minutes of his posting. The Speedy style bracelet and sword hands are my favorite features. This is a keeper for sure. The lume shot has been enhanced with Photoshop's auto contrast filter.

These are recent photos from Key West via Omega. The Chrono Diver 300 is not a GMT, but it knows party time.
