Found: A Completely Fake Black Dial, Screw-Down Paul Newman Daytona On Ebay, For Over $24,000
We see a lot of comically bad watches for sale on the interwebs (here's a fun one, just for kicks), but watches like this are so incredibly terrible that anyone with an iPhone and any sense of reality can figure out not to bid on them. And then there are the good fakes – those that may use some real parts, or tell a great story about how the watch may have sat in a drawer for 25 years. You know, like this steel Patek 1463 that we spotted on eBay back in September. Well, right now, there is another would-be dream watch online – this time with 127 bids and a price of over $24,000 with just about three days remaining. We'll break this fake down for you. 1 OF 3 That's that watch, up there. It's a Rolex Daytona Reference 6263 with black Paul Newman dial. Now if you know anything about Daytonas, you'll know a Paul Newman is worth over $100,000. With a black bezel, it's worth over $150,000. With screw down pushers and a white dial it is worth
Maybe not for me...
I took out my 15300 out of the bank today, I am going to Zurich tomorrow and was planning on leaving it to my AD to make the service, it's unworn but sitting in safes since 2009, made the oils dry up and it needs a service. But I have been looking at it and feeling it for one hour now, and can't explain why but I am a little underwhelmed, I thought it was perfect as my 3 PP are ultra thin, and my AP diver extra thick, to have something a little thicker, I don't know why but I am not impatient to be able to wear it, to be honest it's not that I don't like it, but can't say it does something to me.When I saw the Jumbo I really found it awesome, while the 15400 didn't touch me in the slightest.I think I won't do the service, will leave it untouched in the safe, and probably sell it to finance a piece later on that I really want, for now there is nothing on my radar, well there are watches I love, but way to expensive for'me at the moment.I need to see the Jumbo again, if I really love it a
Patek Customer Service Rules
Guys, after being distressed about my new Aquanaut steel bracelet fit issue, I reached out to both the US Distributor Customer Service Dept, and spoke with Yuko who runs customer service. She was fantastic in confirming the part I need and agreeing to overnight it to my AD.Conversely, my AD, Lux Bond & Green in Boston, was similarly fantastic by agreeing to pick up the $225 cost of the link & half and help me out on a different unrelated Rolex issue. I am seriously blown away by the attentive service I received and the level of satisfaction I feel. It is a very good reminder that there are some fabulous ADs out there worth building relationships with.Lastly, I was also very pleased with my deal, which exceeded my expectations enough to bring me into the Patek club. Next up...a nice 5711.One last note, I had also spoken with the Patek specialist at Tourneau (normally not a TRF favorite) and he was equally accommodative on pricing and silliness to overnight a watch in for me
Rolex pricing why some can sell new for more than retail
Hi I havent been here for a while but I do seem to remember reading that Rolex AD have to follow strict pricing and cannot sell for more than retail price no matter how desirable.Which brings me to my story.Last year in Bangkok I had the chance to try on a green submariner from a Rolex boutique it was a great experience in I walk with open toe sandals and shorts and treated extremely well.I asked about the price and they informed me that with green ones they add on an extra 20,000baht which is 500 in uk money. They receive 2 green ones every month they told me that they get what what Rolex gives them. If I only knew how sought after the green ones have become I should have chewed her hand off for it.So moving forward to present day I get my thai contact to enquire about price because now Iam interested right.Almost every shop she called told her that she would need previous purchase history in order to be put on the waiting list which is what Iam experiencing now in the UK. DAMN!!!but
