Speedmaster Patina
I've got a standard 3570.50 caliber 1861 Speedmaster I bought at an AD a couple years ago.I was wondering, as the watch ages, will the hour markers on the dial ever start to go patina? Or is that an effect that you only get with the older-style watches?Or another way of asking it, did OMEGA change anything on the newer models that would prevent the hour markers from aging to a patina? Thanks!
A man on the moon
I'm currently reading and thoroughly enjoying A man on the moon by Andrew Chaikin, which provides a fascinating and moving history of the Apollo missions. The author interviewed most of the astronauts from the program and recounts their thoughts and feelings during and after their missions.I'd highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in NASA or the moonwatch. Having reached the point where Apollo XI have safely returned to earth, there have not been that many references to our beloved Speedy Pros, except the fact that they were set to Houston time during the voyage to the moon. I'd always wondered about that, and whether they were synced after sleep periods. It's a great read, if you're after something to pick up next.
Oh my Omega!
This really caught my eye! Any info?
Off Topic -- need your opinions about VC Chrono or AP Diver
dear all, I guess this is the best place to ask such an opinion - I want some opinions based on versatility, quality, market forecast and of course, your personal taste for a trade proposed to me.I have this Diver since newAnd I'm test driving this VC Overseas ChronoBoth are nice, and my goal originally was to replace the Diver with an PP 5167A later on, then the VC came to the game.Should I keep the Diver for later switch, or grab the VC - that's almost same value as Diver's - what you guys recommend? thanks in advance!
Pam 1312 vs 312 size & color dilemma...
Hey guys,I am new to the forum and new to panerai. Looking to make my first panerai watch purchase and I need some help...I have been doing research online (exhaustively), and have visited my local AD for the in person experience. I initially went in with heart set on the 312. I tried both the 312 and 1312 and I preferred the overall aesthetic and cleaner look of the 312 dial, but much preferred the thinner fit of the 1312... but I was just not sure of the ecru color, blue second hand and automatic written on dial... although it isn't that obstrusive in person, it still has me thinkingWhy couldn't they just make the 312 exactly the same (or even with the ommision of the date and the 9) with the new 1312 case size?? Is there another model that can satisfy those criteria?I keep thinking I'll just get the bigger 312 case, then I read countless articles of owners that say it's hard to live with height and too heavy case on daily basis. Perhaps I'll learn to love the blue second hand and fa
