A. Lange & S?hne Datograph Perpetual Watch New For SIHH 2015
The A. Lange & S?hne Datograph, a watch I am very fond of, gets some new additions for SIHH 2015, including a version of the Datograph in 18k rose gold as well as this A. Lange & S?hne Datograph Perpetual which adds a perpetual calendar to the chronograph, date, and power reserve complications. When I last visited the newer 41mm wide sized version of this German beauty, I reviewed the platinum A. Lange & S?hne Datograph Up/Down here.A. Lange & S?hne is setting themselves up for a long line of Datograph Perpetual watches (down the line) with this 2015 version in a 41mm wide 18k white gold case and matte gray dial. Of course, the A. Lange & S?hne Datograph Perpetual doesn't have the sublime simplicity of the original Datograph or more modern Datograph Up/Down, but it does increase the ante by adding the various calendar complications. This isn't an entirely new movement either, but rather adapted to the needs of bringing a bit more to the popular Datograph collection.
Hands-On: With The A. Lange & S?hne 1815 Tourbillon With Stop-Seconds Mechanism And Zero Reset (Live Pictures, Video, Pricing)
Let's get one thing straight. I'm not a tourbillon guy at all. In fact, I think most of them are downright ridiculous. There are, of course, a few exceptions, where I believe the technical thoughtfulness, artistic integrity, and the simple beauty of them in motion outweigh my general belief that this complication is more than useless (then again, aren't all mechanical watches?). Some that I give a pass to include those from Laurent Ferrier and FP Journe, the Tradition tourbillon from Breguet, the?14-day guys from VC, the Gyro from JLC, the downright?ridiculousness of the mega RM's, and the occasional?ultra-slim Royal Oak tourbillon. But, if it came down to it, and I were forced to spend my own (pretend) money on a tourbillon wristwatch, it would likely (though not definitely) be from A. Lange & S?hne. 2 OF 12 Now I'm not going to lie and tell you that if given my druthers, the Lange tourbillon I'd buy would be this new 1815 (first shown to you in January during the SIHH)
Gold vs SS Nautilus - useability and durability?
Hi,This is not so much a 'what do you prefer' thread - but more a question of how much more fragile the gold versions of the nautilus are.We all know the SS nautilus bezel is a scratch magnet - so I would imagine the similar gold bezel is even more prone to scratches...?Current or previous owners of both metals - can you share your experiences? Is/was the gold nautilus a special occasion watch - with the SS a daily driver? Or the gold version for work, change to SS for more casual? Did anyone 'downgrade' from gold to SS nautilus out of fear of scratches or other reasons? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Paying to Bypass the Line
You can pay the bouncer at a club to bypass the line. You can pay at a restaurant to get a table immediately. You can pay to avoid standing in line for rides at DisneyWorld. You can pay to drive in express lanes to get somewhere faster. Now, the latter two are more official than the former two. But the point is you can pay a business/person to get things faster in different areas of life.Has anyone paid someone at an AD to bypass the list for a hot watch?
Oysterclasp springbar problem
Hi everyone,Recently acquired an explorer ii. I've noticed that the snap-fit mechanism was loose and upon closer inspection, one end of the springbar that attaches the snap-fit module to the clasp does not fit in the clasp hole.I've taken a couple of photos to hopefully illustrate this problem better. No matter how hard I try, I can't get the springbar to fit. It is not bent. The springbar fits the clasp without the snap-fit module but not when it is through the module. Any thoughts?Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
