Jaeger-LeCoultre at the Dakar Rally 2011
Jaeger-LeCoultre is putting its Master Compressor Extreme World Chronograph to the test on the wrist of Greek motorbike racer Vasilis Orfanos during the world's toughest and most demanding motorsports race: the Dakar Rally 2011. The race runs from January 1-16 in Argentina and Chile. The riders will cover a total of 9,500 kilometers across difficult terrain. This is Vasilis Orfanos' 5th participation in the Dakar Rally. In his first effort in 2003, he took 1st place in the 400cc category. The Master Compressor Extreme World Chronograph is powered by Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 752 which is designed for extreme conditions and equipped with a patented shock absorber system protecting the self-winding chronograph movement from vibrations and jolts. The watch features an automatic chronograph combined with a world time function displaying simultaneously the time in the 24 different time zones. Dakar’s 16 days of heat, water, sand, shocks and vibration make it an excellent extreme laborat
Harry Winston Ocean Sport Collection Watches
Harry Winston will soon launch this new collection of watches called the Ocean Sport. While I don't think the name sounds particularly high-end (though the Ocean is a long standing Harry Winston watch), they are interesting are relatively simple and satisfying sport versions of the iconic Harry Winston Ocean watch fare. The Ocean Sport will have a few versions, and pieces for both men and women. Style wise they feel very much influenced by some Roger Dubuis pieces from the last few years. Does anyone else see that? What connects each of the Ocean Sport watches is an aesthetic theme as well as a Zalium case. Zalium is a special zirconium alloy unique to Harry Winston watches. Connected to the watches are either black or white HW branded rubber straps. The men's models come with light or dark cases and in chronograph or three-hand models. These are called the Harry Winston Ocean Sport Chronograph or Ocean Sport Automatic watches. They are 44mm wide in satin finished Zalium cases. According
Dunhill Wheel Watch Chronograph Available On James List
Dunhill, aka. A. Dunhill (Alfred Dunhill) is a English brand under the Richemont umbrella. Really rare in the US, these pieces are known to be popular in Asian (where "Western" things are often always en vogue). They do however have some nice designs that I think would appeal to more demographics. While they don't come out with a lot of new watches - some of them are quite nice with a healthy mixture of classic British appeal and avant garde interest.Alfred Dunhill himself was known for offering a lot of motoring accessories - so the brand's watches often have a high-end "car guy" feel to them. This watch is called the Wheel Watch Chronograph. It is part of a larger collection, but this one is a limited edition Chronograph model. You can search online for other Dunhill Wheel watch variants. I don't think any of them are made anymore. At first glance the watch may look like it needs crutches, being "one lugged" and all. But the interesting use of one lug on each side gives it a sort of t
