To celebrate the brand’s 55th anniversary, Corum is re-issuing some of its classic models in limited series. One of them is the Round Golden Bridge featuring the legendary C0113 baguette movement. This caliber accommodates 140 components in a space just just 33mm long, 3mm high and less than 5mm thick. This mechanical, hand-wound caliber is equipped with a variable-inertia balance beating at a frequency of 4 Hertz or 28,800 vph. Other technical features include a barrel equipped with slip-springs, a 40-hour power reserve, as well as the solid gold hand-engraved mainplate and bridges. The 41mm case is suitable for a man or a woman and the open design allows the movement to be viewed from all angles. Cartiers solution was a square-cased watch to be worn on the wrist
Cartier's solution was a square-cased watch to be worn on the wrist. While it wasn't necessarily the very first wristwatch, the Santos-Dumont model is believed to be the first one made specifically for men. The colorful aviator and his exploits helped popularize that style of timepiece, which eventually overtook the more traditional pocketwatch as the preferred timekeeper for both men and women in the 20th century.
Since then, the Santos-Dumont watch has been a popular staple of Cartier's men's collection.
Watch Spotting: Roger Dubuis Wearing A Roger Dubuis Sympathie Bi-Retrograde Perpetual Calendar Moonphase
Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting the Roger Dubuis manufacture outside of Geneva and had the double pleasure of meeting Mr. Dubuis himself. After touring the manufacture and learning of the rigorous processes behind the Poinçon de Genève standard, we were led into a large conference room with a sweeping view of Mont Blanc and the not-yet-completed Richemont Campus Genevois de Haute Horology. When Dubuis entered the room – situated quite literally at the crux of the old guard and future of the industry – one of the key things on my mind was what was on his wrist that day. 2 OF 4 The 37mm case sits elegantly on the wrist. The Roger Dubuis Sympathie Bi-Retrograde Perpetual Calendar Moonphase was introduced around 1995-1996. The 37mm stylized cushion-shaped gold case appears baroque, but not in an offensive way. On the off-white dial, the real features of the watch stand out: a minimal moon-phase complication at 6 o’clock with a s
Omega Ranchero
I received this watch about 10 years ago from my dad . . . he told me that they where only made for 2 years . . . I put the watch in a drawer until a few months ago . . . I called my big friend 'the watchmaker' if I could visit him and bring a watch to get back into shape ;-)He inspected the watch and said . . . no problem . . I wasn't expecting anything else ;-)So he found a new glass since it was cracked (I received it that way . . . thanks Dad ;-)Today he called me that it was finished so I jumped into my car and was really curious to see my first overhauled or restored watch.I am amazed what he did . . . new glass . . . a little bit of polishing . . . and a big service . . .There it was my new Ranchero . . . If you want to read some more about it here is an article from Honkidee .hodinkee/2008/10/22/1...-it-watch.htmlHere are some pics of the Ranchero (the first one was how she left . . . )Great patina . . . . I love it !Next step will be a new nice tan leather strap . . . lizard
Yachtmaster II
Only recently have I been looking to the Yachtmaster II. Not that I own a yacht or anything, but this highly complicated Rolex and its looks drew my attention more and more. Before I jump to any hasty conclusions I was wondering what the forum thinks of this model, and more specifically about the first and second iteration. Can't wait to read your comments. Thanks.
