Sales in the Patrizzi & Co June 15 auction reached nearly $3 million with 145 of the 233 lots sold. The top lot was a minute repeater by F.P. Journe, featuring Grande et Petite Sonnerie striking chimes, which sold for $400,000. An eight-day Cartier Mystery clock with platinum, rock crystal and diamonds made in the 1940s attained $280,000. An 18k yellow gold Patek Philippe World Time with a cloisonn enamel dial fetched $140,000. There was tremendous interest in this auction from clients in Asia, especially China and Hong Kong, said Philip Poniz, vice president and chief expert at Patrizzi & Co. Editorial: Arthur's Favorite Watches From Baselworld 2016
We all know who the heavy hitters were this year. So let’s start by getting them out of the way. The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in stainless steel, the Seiko Spring Drive 8 Days, anything Tudor, and the Laurent Ferrier Galet Classic Tourbillon are, as you know by now, on our most wanted list. Needless to say these were also my favorites. But in an effort to keep things interesting for you, and because honestly other watches impressed me too, here are seven watches that deserve some attention. 1. The Zenith El Primero 36,000 VpH Classic Cars 1 OF 7 Leave it to Zenith to come up with the coolest chronograph of the fair. They haven’t added any complications on top of their chronograph, going instead with a straight update of its the hugely popular 36,000 VpH. Introduced in 2013, the 42 mm stainless steel chronograph with tri-color dial continues to be one of their most popular models. This time, Zenith have gone with an anthracite dial brushed with "Gen
best value AP chronograph?
Hello AP forum. I have been thinking about a chronograph to add to my collection since it will be too long of a wait for the ceramic daytona. I have considered the omega dark side of the moon or a non ceramic daytona (which I have already owned). What is the go to chronograph in the AP line right now that can be had preowned at a relatively good value? Are discounts on these models possible new from AD? I am not too familiar with AP just interested in possibly branching out and looking for a bit of info on the brand. I currently own a D blue and BLNR. I do tend to like bigger watches at the moment but on the smaller side is also ok.PS: budget is 10-15kusd. I am not even sure if this budget is large enough for any AP chronograph so that info is also appreciated.
RO with rubber/aligator strap
I would like to know if AP provide rubber/aligator straps that fits the classic RO 39/41mm. I know that there is a 15400 gold version with a gorgeous aligator strap with gold clasp aswell.Anyone here use this combination? If yes would be nice to post some pics.
Dust/scratch on my dial?
I know my SMP 300m like the back of my hand and I just noticed a straight white mark on the dial between the 1 o'clock and 2 o'clock markers. I can't tell if it's dust or a scratch, but it is definitely on the dial. It wasn't there yesterday. Any ideas on what it is or how it got there?
