Omega Announces Anti-Magnetic 8508 Watch Movement
Omega announced recently that they have designed an anti-magnetic watch movement based on their in-house co-axial 8500 series. The calibre 8508 uses specialized non-ferrous materials in its construction which allows it to be unaffected by magnetic energy up to 1.5 Tesla (15,000 gauss). Omega employed the Aqua Terra platform to display the movement as the 8508 does not rely on a conventional iron case layer for magnetic protection. This non-ferrous construction allows the movement to be protected from considerable magnetic interference while still being viewable via a display case back. This announcement from Omega is notable because two of their main competitors, IWC and Rolex, offer watches which have been designed to withstand magnetic fields and protect the accuracy of the movement within. The current Rolex Milgauss is, perhaps unsurprisingly, capable of withstanding up to 1,000 Gauss or roughly 1/15th that of this new Omega movement. IWC measures the effective protection of their In
Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX 7 Watch
Jaeger-LeCoultre announces the seventh version of their Aston Martin automobile collaboration watches with the AMVOX 7 Chronograph. It marks eight years of working together with the auto maker on a watch which began with the kitschy idea of having a function that allows you to lock and unlock your Aston Martin car with a luxury watch. Moving forward, the AMVOX collection has become more of a Jaeger-LeCoultre racing themed sport timepiece range. The AMVOX collection has been one I am keenly aware of because if there is anything I like better than a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, it is a modern looking sport Jaeger-LeCoultre watch. I don't love all the AMVOX family timepieces, but the new 7 is certainly a good looker. There are a couple of really cool features on the JLC AMVOX 7 Chronograph watch. First is the chronograph which uses the crystal as the chronograph pushers. This feature was actually introduced in 2005, but I like it better in the AMVOX 7. Here is how it works. First you'll see a l
Seamaster de ville
Hi guys looking for your thoughts on this seamaster I picked up a few years back in fantastic condition with original box & papers dated 1966 just not getting any wrist time probably as I've got use to the larger watch sizes. Anyway decided to give some time out of the safe today such a classic looker though
Is the Co-Axial Omegas future ??
I'm a little torn on the Co-Axial thing.. So far I am not impressed as much as I think I should be...The first generation are little more than earlier ETA movements with the addition of the more complicated Escapement..Do you think it is premature for Omega to be dumping the 1120, 1128, or other time proven lever escapement movements for the new offerings of theirs.. ??Will this help bring Omega closer to Rolex, or push it further away...???
