Laco Atacama Review
Laco is one of those brands I'm surprised doesn't get more attention. One of the original manufacturers of Flieger watches during WWII, along with Stowa, Wempe, IWC and others, they have a long rich history in watch making. We had the luck of meeting a distant relative of one of the founders of the brand, who wrote us this great brand highlight recently, which I recommend you read for a thorough walkthrough of their story. These days, Laco is positioning themselves for a bit of a comeback with an ever growing line of watches, ranging from Flieger remakes to bauhaus styled vintage models, to tough-as-nails modern tactical pieces. The watch we're going to look at today is of the latter group, the Laco Atacama. These watches have always interested me, but up until recently, they weren't too easy to get your hands on stateside. Luckily our friends over at Long Island Watch now sell them on-line, and were kind enough to lend us one for review. One look at this beast of a watch, you probably
15400ST Bracelet
Greetings!Just picked up a 15400ST with the black dial and I absolutely love the watch but having a tough time finding the perfect fit for the bracelet....if I take out 3 links, it's too tight, with only 2 out, it's too loose. Anyone else have this issue?
1 extra year warranty when purchasing using your credit card
Like everyone else, I try to use a credit card to purchase anything. Points/cash back, piece of mind and of course extended warranty protection. Depending on your AMEX (I'm sure other brands offer this as well) you'll receive one extra year added to the original manufacturer's warranty. Of course, you'll receive a better price by paying in cash, so I guess I'm wondering what price you guys value an extra year? Send off your watch for the water resistance test and that's another. Thoughts?I can't even begin to explain how helpful this benefit of my credit card has been in the past. With computers alone it's saved me thousands.
Servicing Advice On Vintage Omega Constellation
Hi All, My first post on this forum - looking forward to gleaning and sharing as much info with everyone :)I have just recently started to enjoy the intricacies of watchmaking and am becoming an avid student of watches.I recently acquired a vintage Omega Constellation (1972 i am told but will get more details soon when i take it in for service).Just wondering if anyone can give advice on where i should take this to get serviced in the Sydney Australia region.I have been told that Omega actually do not service their watches in house anymore and just send it off to other experienced servicing centres in town. If this is the case, I am considering taking it directly to one of these service centres to cull the costs. Any thoughts or advice? Also, i will be taking photos of this watch soon to post up for all to enjoy :)I also inherited an old Cyma which i will post details of soonThanks in advance guys and girls
Omega Aqua Terra vs. Rolex Explorer I
I have decided to keep my Sub and send it in to RSC for a makeover.....But, I like watches. So, if anyone with experience can compare the Omega Aqua Terra Mod. 2503-50 with a Rolex Explorer I, I would greatly appreciate the insight. Retail on the Omega is about $1400 less, with discounts at an AD of at least 15% from there. I understand that price is not everything, it is just the comparison that I can do with no first hand experience with the watches. As always, thanks for your sage wisdom and time spent with a long time owner, but novice student.Happy New Year!jkc
