Never thought i would be here...
I started off in the rolex general discussion and that lead to 2 purchases and then i came to the AP section just for a browse and now i am dying to get an AP ROO FC dive Only problem is that i don't think my wrist is large enough... I have heard that the AP diver sits quite massively both in diameter and depth. I have a wrist size of 6.5 Would that be OK, or is my wrist too small :bang head:Thanks for your help.
Need Seamaster Info
I recently discovered the Rolex forum and the members in the Vintage section gave some good info on my Explorer II which is now being serviced. What brings me to the Omega section is that I needed to have a watch to wear while the Rolex is being worked on. I looked in my bureau drawer and discovered my late father-in-law's old Seamaster which had sat there for over 40 years. I wound it and it ran for 4 days when it stopped and refused to run again. My questions are: is the watch worth being repaired, and does it have any collector value? It certainly has sentimental value to me as he was a really nice guy. As you can see from the attached photos the watch has had some use. The crystal and the case both have scratches. The band is a Speidel (are they still in business?). Any information that you can give me would be appreciated. After digging through that drawer again I came up with a Waltham self-winder which I'm sure is older than the Seamaster. It's been running for a week and keeps
No love for the 5235.......
I saw on IG patekonomics that our own patekaholic mentioned that a 5235 was recently passed in at a Sotheby's auction in HK (6th Oct)The low estimate was approx. USD 45k.Now this leads to the question where to from here?Lots of discussions about a connoisseurs watch, legibility, over supply etc but as an owner of the watch I love it. Reading the time is simple and if anything my only criticism would be it is hard to read the day and month. What does everyone think? Soon to be discontinued, new model coming, Patek flop or instant classic? For my take I love it and think that if Patek discontinue it (yes I hear the usual people saying that it won't happen) it will quickly be appreciated as a classic.Supply seems to be abundant now but the may be a function of initial problems and inventory issues.Anyway enough of what I think....let me know your thoughts?
Wanting to join the Panerai camp
I am looking to replace my Breitling Steelfish and am seriously thinking about Panerai. The reason I sold the Steelfish was because it was just too heavy (listed at 122 grams-not sure with bracelet or not) and it was constantly sliding into my wrist bone. I could never get comfortable with it. I currently have a Submariner that I love dearly although i would not want anything smaller on my 7.5 wrist. I am looking at an entry level Panerai like the 111, 112 etc. since I really like the clear caseback. I don't know how the watches feel nor what sort of wrist presence to expect. I also don't know if a leather band will change the way it feels on the wrist versus a metal bracelet like on the Breitling. Or should I be looking at a titanium model? As always y'all's expertise is welcomed.
