Watch Spotting: At The New York Launch Of The Book "Rowing Blazers"
On Tuesday night, the new Polo Ralph Lauren store at 711 5th Avenue hosted a launch event for the new book Rowing Blazers by Jack Carlson and principal photographer F.E. Castleberry. It was a packed, invitation-only event with about 700 guests visiting the two-story store. We thought it would be an interesting opportunity to see what watches were on the wrists of some of the attendees, both ladies and gentlemen, and of course take a quick look at this sartorially-focused book. 2 OF 97 If Jack's name sounds familiar, it is because HODINKEE sponsored his boats for two races last year: the winning boat in the Britannia Challenge Cup of the Henley Royal Regatta and the winning women's 8 boat at the Head of the Charles Regatta. Jack is a good friend of the site, and also happened to be the best man at my wedding. 3 OF 97 Rowing Blazers chronicles the distinct blazers worn by rowers of various clubs and universities, from the original eponymous "blazi
Looking for buying advice...long post
I'm about to close on my first AP and thankfully, it'll be my grail ROO (rb2ti). I know that everyone says buy the seller and not the watch. I did reach out to a few reputable sellers here and they did find me a few rb2s but there's one that I am going to go with as it's in better condition for marginally more. This watch is being sold by a private seller. First, the seller (original owner) has been very accommodating with pics of the watch, box, books, etc and whatever pics I requested. The watch appears to be complete. Second, I asked for a pic of the back and called AP clearwater to confirm the serial number and everything matches. Third, I reached out a friend of mine that lives in the seller's city and asked him if he knew anyone at the local AP dealer that could look over the watch for me. He gave me a name that he trusts and I called the him at the boutique. Apparently they are no longer selling AP earlier this year (although they are still listed on AP's website) and s
Aqua Terra Chronomter - Tek Silver or Gray Dial?
Hi - I am new to this forum and am currently looking to buy the new AQT (2008 onwards model) but unsure which dial colour to go for. I want it to be a more casual looking watch, to wear both with a suit every day and also jeans/t-shirt, etc. Most have advised me to go for the silver finish as it will also look great with a brown leather strap if Ii want to interchange, and it perhaps looks a little less formal?Currently own a 19 year old Deville Quartz in gold, so whatever I choose it will be very different.Any advice would be great.Thanks.Matt
My first Patek 5712/1A... I love it!
Here's my first Patek and I love it... I'm a new member as well.
Rolex Factory Serti Dial
Rolex at one time made available the most gorgeous replacement Serti dials. These have all but disappeared. They can no longer be had through an AD. At least not in the Dallas, TX area. The aftermarket ones are of questionable build quality as I've sadly discovered. Does anyone have knowledge of why Rolex quit manufacturing them ?
