What will manufacturers do about exotic straps in CA?
It is currently illegal in CA to import certain animal parts for commercial purposes. But, starting 2015, these animals will include crocodiles or alligators... What will the manufacturers do on their watches that currently carry these type of animals on the straps by the year 2015? A few examples would be AP ROO and their hornback straps... or Panerai and their gator straps. Will manufacturers be forced to put a different kind of straps on these watches when they send them to California? Seems crazy to customize watches to that point just for the state of California. What do you think? Citation: CA PENAL 653o - 653r Citation: West's Ann. Cal. Penal Code 653o - 653r Summary: These California laws relate to the importation of certain animals parts for commercial purposes. Under the law, it is unlawful to import into this state for commercial purposes, to possess with intent to sell, or to sell within the state, the dead body, or any part or product thereof, of any polar bear, le
New member requesting assistance identifying vintage Omega
Hello TRF!I've been browsing the forum for several months and have finally mustered the courage for my first post.... Wanted to try to make the first one worthy of the forum. Please, let me preface that this is NOT a is it real/how much is it worth post, nor a veiled attempt to sell the watch, etc. This is meant as an honest attempt to obtain some information on the watch and break the ice with the fine folks on the forum. A little background on the watch:I've searched online and taken this watch to several ADs over the years to try to have it identified, but without success. So, I'd like to appeal to the experts here for assistance in determining what Model of Omega this is and an approximate age on it. Even the insurance appraisal from my AD is curiously vague regarding model information. The watch was my late uncle's. In the 1980's he gave it to me and said he bought it in the late 50's or early 60's. He was in the advanced stages of battling cancer and could not remember a lot
5146 help
Hi guys,Once again I a considering the 5146. This time I am trying to justify the 5146P instead of the 5146 G slate dial.I really love the look of the 5146P ebony dial however, I am not sure i like the price difference. I feel the G is very similar to the P version so why spend so much money. What are your thoughts? Would you get the P or the G and use the additional funds of another watch in the future? Please share your thoughts with me. Thank you.
Questions about my no date sub
I recently purchased a used (mint condition) no date sub. The seller stated that the watch is a ref # 14060 manufactured in 1999.I was surprised when I turned the bezel that it did not click and that it turned in both directions. I know the older subs were bi directional with the click when turning, but it was my understanding that the newer subs were uni directional (counter clockwise only).Any idea what year Rolex changed this on the no date sub?Is it possible for a 14060 made in 1999 to have a bi directional bezel? It is possible to verify the manufacture date of the watch? Possibly from the serial #?One last question. How many links are supposed to be on the bracelet for a watch of my vintage? Thanks for your insight.
