SIHH 2013, You Control The Watch Coverage
In about a week I will be on the ground in Geneva covering the 2013 edition of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH). Read this post fully because the important stuff is at the end. This will be our 4th SIHH show, but our week in Geneva doesn't stop there. In addition to the SIHH we will be at the Geneva Time Exhibition (GTE), and meet with a number of other brands who will be presenting in the area. SIHH sounds hectic but in reality it is much more relaxed than the ten plus days you can spend in Basel at Baselworld madly meeting with as many brands as possible.Seeing that many watches can be overwhelming - even for us. And by us I mean that this year it will be more than just me (Ariel Adams) walking around with a bunch of photo equipment. watches-dealer as a team, continues to grow in cohesion. Nevertheless, I will still have all that equipment (which this year will be a pack including two DSLR cameras, multiple lenses, and a video camera). Sadly, they don't allow pac
Affordable Vintage: Seiko 6138-0030 "Kakume"
Of all the incredible chronographs produced by Seiko in the 1970's, in my opinion there is one that stands head and shoulders above the rest: The 6138-0030 aka "Kakume". During this era there were two main chronograph calibers used, the single register 6139 and the dual register 6138. The fiercely popular 6139-600X (aka "Pogue") chronographs get the lions share of attention due to their status as arguably the first automatic chronograph in space, having been worn by William Pogue during space flight. By comparison the 6138 series is under appreciated, but it definitely stands tall in its own right. The 21 jewel 6138A released in 1970 was the first fully integrated automatic chronograph with a column wheel and vertical clutch coupling mechanism. Some time later, they switched to the 23 jewel 6138B. They are both automatic (rotor winds in both directions like most Seiko calibers) and hand windable, which is uncommon in vintage Seikos, and the day and date feature a true quickset mechanism
AP Forged Carbon Grand Prix 2.0
Thanks to TSW for posting pictures of the Rose Gold Grand Prix with the optional Ceramic Bezel. I immediately set out to have the same treatment done to my Forged Carbon Grand Prix and am very pleased! Similarly, I had the date wheel changed to the black with white font. From the second I picked up this watch two and a half years ago, the forged carbon bezel was my biggest complaint when the edges immediately started rubbing off with just my fingers. Over time, the sharp edges of the bezel started looking more and more worn and rounded. Then the new novelties arrived and their ceramic bezels were scratchproof, shiny yet subtle and just upped the classiness of the watches. Fast forward to now, after a long 9 weeks in Clearwater, my issue is finally resolved and the Grand Prix is how it should have always been. The two parts of the bezel now match perfectly with the finish on the top half of the new ceramic bezel the same as the original bottom ceramic half. The completed bezel is I beli

Rubber/Leather Strap Recommendations for SS Speedmaster 9300 Moonwatch.
I have a stainless steel on bracelet Speedmaster 9300 with in house movement and was thinking of getting a Dark Side of the Moon strap for it. However, the cheapest I can find here in the UK is about 165 and that's without the buckle. I'd like an Omega buckle for it though it doesn't have to be the DSOTM ceramic one. Any suggestions for a genuine 18mm Omega buckle, or an excellent black rubber or leather strap with Omega buckle to put on the watch. Size is 21mm at the lugs and 18mm at the buckle end. Thanks in advance for any replies.
