Watch Winner Review: Mark Carson Hawaii Ka La
Shawn H. from Simi Valley, California was the lucky winner of the Mark Carson Hawaii Ka La watch that was the watches-dealer giveaway piece in August. Here are his thoughts and wrist shots:The human mind is a complicated thing. Upon entering The watches-dealer Giveaway, I left a positive comment and I said that I was going to win the Individual Design Mark Carson Ka La Watch. ?How did I know that? ?I'm not quite sure. Because, to be honest, I thought to myself that it was a pretty nice watch. ?But, it's not a watch that I would spend my hard earned money on.Long after forgetting about this watch, I received an email from Ariel Adams that I was the winner. ?I couldn't Google fast enough to see which watch that I had won. ?I said to myself, " Oh yeah, I remember that watch". ?So, I started learning as much as I could about this watch. ?And before the excitement wore off, I was in love with it. ?So, now the wait began. ?Mark Carson was away from his home on the Hawaiian Islands, where the
Photo Report: Recapping HODINKEE's Celebration Of F.P. Journe In NYC
On a rainy Monday night in New York City, HODINKEE welcomed over 30 of our friends and readers to the F.P.Journe boutique for an evening of drinks, dinner, and spirited conversation about some of the finest, and most interesting watches being made today. Click through for a photo report of our celebration of F.P.Journe. 2 OF 38 Every time we host an event with a manufacture, we aim to invite a nice mix of seasoned collectors and new, but interested parties. This way, experienced owners can communicate their passion for the brand to those looking to make their first purchase. In the case of F.P.Journe, those experienced owners just happen to be some of the most die-hard fans of any brand out there. 3 OF 38 While not every guest owned a Journe, there were some absolutely incredible pieces present on the wrists of attendees. This includes one of ten T10 Anniversary Tourbillons, a black label Tourbillon Souverain (which was actually picked up by our guest on the
Advice Needed: Omega Ploprof 1200M needs service
Sad to find that my Omega Ploprof 1200M which just passed the warranty period by a few months will need service. When adjusting the hour hand to change the date, it feels loose and does not reach the next hour in a definitive manner. Also, when changing the minute hands the hour hand would change correctly until reaching the 9 o'clock then the hour hand would get stuck. Anyone knows what might be wrong? Also, do you recommend omega service center or prefers a local watch shop in Houston, Texas? Also, any insight into what this would probably cost would help as well. I'm thinking about bringing it to the Omega boutique here in Houston but wanted to reach out to my fellow TRFers before doing so. Any advice or things for me to consider will be much appreaciated. Thanks.
Would this bother you?
I took my black SMP to a local watchmaker for servicing. He has worked on other watches I own and I think he does a good job.The watch looked good when I picked it up -- all the old scratches and nicks had been buffed out.But when I got it home I noticed that the polished ends on the center links were now satin. He'd buffed the whole bracelet, so the center link no longer had the contrasting polished sides.Overall the bracelet looks a better w/o the scratches and I usually wear it on a black rubber strap, so I'm not THAT bothered....BUT...I am kind of irritated. Don't you think he should have kept the original look of the watch?
New Watch "Running In" - Accuracy Query
I just got my new 510, replacing a 112 I lost. In this 1st week it was off 10 minutes +/-.I have read there can be accuracy issues with the p5000 movement.I've also read new watches may need to run for a few months before accuracy can be assessed. This true?I got the 510 last Friday so haven't hit 8 days yet. Nor have I properly monitored how/when the big chunk of inaccuracy came from ie. start of the 8 day cycle, mid point or towards the end - what's typical?I'll start watching how it performs more closely. Love the watch though, more than my 112 (which was as accurate as my Rolex Sub).Either way, great to be back in the club. Was without for 4 months until I could source a replacement - Jomashop as NZ stock is minimal with only one dealer in NZ.DannyBoy.
