Arnold & Son’s HMS1 Collection Strives for Classical Elegance
Arnold & Son, the Swiss watch brand based in La Chaux-de-Fonds and named for 18th-century London watchmaker John Arnold, has released a new collection of elegantly simple watches called HMS1. The name harks back to John Arnold’s history as a supplier of marine chronometers to the British Royal Navy. The quartet of new watches includes two in stainless steel cases, with a white or anthracite dial ($9,885 and $10,095, respectively); one in an 18k rose gold case with an anthracite dial ($15,165); and one in an 18k white gold case with a silver-colored dial ($16,640). All the cases are 40 mm in diameter, water-resistant to 30 meters, and feature curved sapphire crystals with nonreflective coating on both sides as well as sapphire exhibition casebacks. The watches contain Arnold & Son’s in-house, hand-wound movement, Caliber A&S1001, which powers the hours, minutes and small seconds display at 6 ‘clock on the dial. The movement is only 2.7 mm thick, but incorpora
Jaquet Droz "The Writer" Automata: Awesome Antique Android
Watch brands like to pump up their history a lot. This is especially true in Europe where with age comes legitimacy. It also helps when your history includes impressive things. A lot of today's watch brands that bear vintage names don't always have the most interesting histories. Much of them can be summed up as "man X did in fact make watches or clocks 150 - 200 years ago." Two of the names that do come with a really impressive history are Breguet and Jaquet Droz (both conveniently owned by the Swatch Group now).Breguet is well considered to be the father of modern watch making. If you study his work and are lucky enough to see some of his surviving creations you'll see why. Pierre Jaquet Droz on the other hand is remembered not only for producing incredibly impressive technology, but also for his showmanship. He helped create many of the marketing techniques that high-end watch makers still use today to market and sell their products. Looking back at his work and legacy, his produc
Off-Center Clasp on ROC
Hello Everyone,After 20 years of Rolex ownership, I pulled the trigger and bought my first AP which is 26320OR with leather strap. This may sound strange but I have weird fitment problem. Since I have a tiny wrist, when I put the watch on, the clasp and all its gold piece is moving all the way close to the side of my wrist rather than staying in centre. The angle of the clasp is designed to stay at mid wrist just opposite of the case but in my case, it is almost on the side. This causes major discomfort after worn a few hours and especially if worn under layered clothes (suits).I tried smaller straps at the AD but alhough it helped, it still isn't centered. Can anyone recommend any solutions ?
