Side-by-Side: Sinn 556i, Archimede Outdoor Protect and Damasko DA36
Within the last couple of months I've had the pleasure of reviewing the Sinn 556i and the Archimede Outdoor Protect. We also have a review of the Damasko DA36 Black in the works. All three are "entry-level" German-made tool watches with nimble cases built for active lifestyles that are still office appropriate. One is a cult favorite, being well regarded by all who own or handle it, one has sort of gone under the radar, but is due its day in the sun, and the last has a strong cult following. Two are a bit more expensive, the other a hard-to-beat value. One is a bit more stylish, one a bit bland and the other sort of in between. For the fun of it, I figured we could look at these watches side-by-side, looking at where they are similar and where they differ.CasesOddly enough, the Sinn 556i and Archimede watches come in at the rather specific 38.5mm, despite having very different designs. 2002 Speedmaster Flimsy?
I'm in process to acquire 2002 Speedmaster from an online retailer. Certainly Omega builds nice watches but when I tried on my coworker's Bond Seamaster, it feels very thin and light. My current watch is a 116610 Submariner. It feels solid and has substantial weight. My concern about the Speedmaster is that it might feel flimsy. Can anyone with a Speedmaster can weigh in?
5227 dial change?
I noticed in the 2016 Patek catalogue, the dial of the 5227j and r is listed as lacquered ivory, and the pic of the 5227r shows a very white looking dial. However, all of the 5227j/r's I've seen have a dial that looks quite off-white, even yellowish. Does anybody know if the dial color has changed from before 2016 (more off white) to after (more white)?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lost gold back piece Patek 5270
Somehow I lost the gold back piece to my Patek 5270. My question is can I buy a replacement piece and if I can't does it effect the value when I decide to sell the watch. I really don't think anyone ever uses this piece but to a buyer might be valuable. Thank you
Smurf Discontinued
I just heard from my AD the Smurf is now discontinued. He says he heard this directly from Rolex. Another WG sports model bites the dust...
