Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Large Date Moon-Phases
Girard-Perregaux reveals the complexity behind the dial, adding a level of mechanical involvement to an already dramatic timepiece. The movement's wheels and levers co-star with the large date and moon-phase displays to increase appreciation of the intricate inner engine.Too often, the fascinating interplay of components that power timepiece displays is hidden behind a dial. Girard-Perregaux draws the curtain back with a dial fashioned from clear, tinted sapphire. The result is a smoked-glass effect that reveals the caliber beneath and that shows off the applied Art Deco hour markers to great effect. The smoked sapphire dial highlights the displays while leaving the movement visible for all to see. Focusing front and center, the large date and moon-phase displays grab your attention. Like most big-dates, this one places the digits on two separate disks. Girard-Perregaux uses some clever engineering to minimize the two level effect that often plagues such displays. One disk is cle
My First Grail Watch: Jean-Marc Wiederrecht Of Agenhor
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch."?In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. ?Today, we're speaking with a gentleman who graduated from the Geneva Watchmaking School just as the quartz crisis was hitting it's stride. ?These days, you'll find Jean-Marc?Wiederrecht as a driving force behind his company, Agenhor.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Jean-Marc Wiederrecht (JW):I am a watchmaker graduate from the Geneva Watchmaking School in 1972. In 1996 I founded with my wife a watch movements company called AGENHOR. AGENHOR is a small factory working as a supplier for many very renowned watch brands. Omega Seamaster Ploprof. Anyone has one? Thoughts?
I really like the look of big watches and right now I have a Breitling Super Avenger 2 (48mm), a Panerai Pam 90 (44mm) and a Rolex Submariner Bluesy (40mm). I really love the unique look of the Ploprof date especially with the white band. Any thoughts?
Seamaster bracelet needs servicing...advice..
I have a seamaster speedy style' bracelet from a 2254 which needs servicing. The clasp is hard to close/open & one pusher is also very soft to press.I would also like to have all the pins changed/checked in it for peace of mind. I would like Omega to do the work for meThe problem is that I am located on a small island with only one Omega AD (whose tech staff I don't really trust for reasons beyond this post). Could I send the bracelet directly to Omega Switzerland and what would you think would be an approximate cost ? Thanks for any advice !
Should I let it go?
Since the arrival of two classic Rolex models, an M/3186 GMT Master II and an M-series Sea-Dweller, my Liquidmetal PO has been getting very little wrist time. So little, that this week I began thinking of putting it on the market.I kept asking myself how I could justify having two black divers. After all, when the PO arrived, I sold my treasured 2254.50. Selling the Liquidmetal would permit fulfilling my goal of an M-series trifecta with the addition of the Datejust I have been considering. So this morning, I put the LM on my wrist for perhaps the last time.Fr.
