A Week On The Wrist: Hamilton Khaki Pioneer Pilot Automatic Chronograph
Hamilton introduced the Khaki Pioneer Pilot at Basel earlier this year as an homage to the brand's notable history in aviation watches. This is a history that dates back nearly a hundred years, beginning with a Hamilton aeronautical watch accompanying the first American Airmail flight between Washington and New York. By the 30s, Hamilton was the official watch of commercial airlines including TWA, United, and Northwest. This laid the groundwork for military issue timepieces in WWII the second half of the twentieth century, which is the era that provides inspiration for the Khaki Pioneer Pilot we see today. The early 70s is a period we've seen Hamilton draw contemporary parallels before, such as the popular Pan Europe of 2011 . Another iconic 70s watch from the brand, a dual register chronograph rocking a Valjoux 7733, was built for the RAF. This is the watch that provides direct lineage to the Khaki Pioneer Pilot, which retains nearly all the charm of the original. I spent a wee
Hands-On: With The Red Gold Piaget Altiplano 900P, The Thinnest Mechanical Watch In The World (Live
Back in December we gave you the very first live photos of the Piaget 38mm Altiplano 900P, the thinnest mechanical watch in the world. The 900P celebrates Piaget's 140th anniversary and continues the manufacture's long tradition of pushing the limits of ultra-thin watches. At SIHH we got our hands on the red gold version of this watch and were just as impressed with it as we were with the white gold version. Here's a recap of what makes the 900P so special and a detailed look at the rose gold presentation. Enjoy. 2 OF 13 The Piaget 38mm Altiplano 900P had to take an entirely new approach to construction in order to achieve its amazing 3.65mm profile. Most significantly, the case is directly integrated into the movement instead of there being a discrete movement placed inside a separate case. The back of the case also serves as the baseplate for the movement. Additionally, the bridges make up most of the dial, with the actual "dial" sitting in the to
Offshore Rhone-Fusterie
Came across some pics, of this awesome watch.Red can be a little loud, but if you see this watch in the flesh, it is really beautiful. The red dial is absolutely stunning, the red colour really works. Not sure if the watch is a little feminine or what?Like to hear some comments!!!,Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Any one speak Italian?
I bought an Omega Samaster GMT from eBay, when it arrived, the watch looks good and keeps perfect time, but the crown is broken and does not screw down. I wrote to the seller, he did not understand what I meant, he says he timed it and it works perfect, but as we all know a seamaster that is not waterproof is useless.I sent the text below as the last reply, written as simply as possible and then translated on line into Italian. I wonder if some one could help me by translating it correctly into Italian. The watch functions. The problem is the crown. On Omega Seamaster it must screw onto the case to make the watch water proof. This part is broken. I took the watch to official Omega in Malaga yesterday, the cost to repair is minimum of 300€ plus tax. Thanks in advance for the help!
Phenominal Accuracy
About a year ago, I had my SMP serviced. Since then it has been more accurate than either Rolex.Unfortunately I haven't worn it as much since joining the Rolex owner ranks, but I became nostalgic a few weeks ago after someone posted a thread about his 36mm SMP. I'm not a huge regulation guy, but last Thursday, I set my watch to time.gov and today (5 days later), my watch was less than 3 seconds fast!I'd say that's pretty good!
