TAG Heuer Focuses on Caliber 1887, Delays Launch of Carrera CH80
If you’re anticipating the release of the announced release of the new TAG Heuer Carrera CH80 chronograph, you will need to wait a bit longer. TAG Heuer has announced today it has decided to focus on the production of a single chronograph movement, Caliber CH1887, launched in 2010.The result of this move is that TAG Heuer is postponing the launch of the Carrera CH80 chronograph announced at Baselworld 2014 and covered in depth here by our colleagues at Monochrome Watches even though the company has completed the development of the movement that powers it (called Caliber 1969 in its development stage). TAG Heuer refers to the new strategy as an “optimization of production,” which will allow for increased synergies in its production process, including the grouping of all movement manufacturing activities in TAG Heuer’s new facility in Chevenez, in the Swiss Jura, which opened in November 2013. The company says that its production staff will not be affected by
The HODINKEE Editors' Top Picks From SIHH 2016
We saw a lot of watches last week – A LOT of watches. So after a much needed weekend off from writing and taking pictures, we have pulled together a list of our favorite watches from six different categories: Best Value, Most Unexpected Watch, Best Everyday Watch, Dream Watch, Guilty Pleasure Watch, and Most WTF Watch. Some are more surprising that others but all in all this is a comprehensive list of our favorites from SIHH 2016. Best Value Benjamin Clymer C The IWC Mark XVIII 1 OF 24 It’s as if someone was listening to us (and every other real IWC fan) when we asked for something smaller, less expensive, and better designed. IWC, at its core, and frankly, at its best, is the maker of tool watches that are elegant in their masculinity and excellent in their simplicity. They are at their best when they don’t try too hard to be something they’re not, and this Mark XVIII – with a 40 mm case, an anti-magnetic movement, a calf inst
5167A or 5167/1A
Hey guys,Looking for a bit of advice. I finally got permanent residence in Sweden having moved here from Australia and am looking to celebrate with a Patek. I was actually looking at doing it with a Rolex but every AD that I have even the smallest relationship to is rejecting putting anyone into a list. So I thought if I am going to wait, may as well be for a Patek! Now I walked into my AD here and found out that they could do a 1 year wait on the 5167/1A vs a 2 or 3 year wait on a 5167A. They also said they can add the rubber strap with the 1A but if you get the A you can't get a bracelet for that. Weird but okay. They require a 20% deposit which is fine but what do you guys think? Also I assume no discount is on the cards at all hahaI'm thinking a 1 year wait for the 1A is the way to go.
cant believe how much i am missing the 5270
5 days on the road with one of the nicest selections of vintage pieces on the planet in my travel case and i keep wondering why i didnt bring this with me ......
This Costco Infection is Spreading
So a little before Christmas I posted a pic of almost the same watch for sale at Costco in Cumming GA. Now today I'm at the one in Buford, GA and the price is jacked $1500 above the other one. Now the only diff. I see is the one above is the gold leafed dial. The other one from last week was not (see below)Not really a rant - just that this Xosco infection is spreading Sent from my iPhoneX using Tapatalk
