Virtual Ideas "Toxic" Linear Time Watch Concept
With linear time indicators that resemble syringes, the "Toxic" watch concept creation by Swiss Virtual Ideas is another neat idea by the watch design firm. Showing time on linear scales means that an indicator moves across a scale and then jumps back once it reaches the end. Look closely and you can see a telescopic arm that moves across the dial with a red strip for the indicator. It moves like a vial filling up or emptying at the arm extends and pushes in the indicator. It would have been cool for it too look like one side of the indicator was filling with a colored liquid. The telescopic arm would be difficult to manufacture but by no means impossible. I like how Virtual Ideas has pushed the envelope of watch engineering limits, but still within the range of possibility. Nevertheless, a watch like this would cost a lot. Recently, I discussed the Urwerk King Cobra watch with a similar liner time concept. The Toxic watch concept features a horizontally long rectangular case with soft
Introducing: The TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02T, The Most Affordable Swiss-Made Tourbillon Chronograph
Since his self-appointment at the head of TAG Heuer, Jean-Claude Biver has been adamant about the brand’s position in the market: it should be the gateway brand into the world of luxury watchmaking. A year later, the company launched the watch that would help him achieve his goal. The Carrera Heuer-01 would be to TAG Heuer what the Big Bang had been to Hublot: a modern flagship, made with contemporary materials, capable of housing any and all complications. Already, TAG Heuer is showing the versatility of its new pillar. A few months after the release of its new chronograph, TAG has announced plans to release a tourbillon chronograph that borrows the case design of the Carrera Heuer-01. And the big news is its incredible price point. At $15,950, the Carrera Heuer-02T is, quite simply, the most affordable Swiss-made tourbillon chronograph available on the market. 1 OF 4 In fact, it is roughly ten times cheaper than the similarly made Bell & Ross BR-X1 Chro
Incoming that was worth the wait and hunt!
I've been seeking this one for a while off and on, and I finally found one in effectively NOS condition. I'd never seen this model in person before it arrived yesterday, and I was actually expecting to be disappointed after all the hype I've heard about it. It turns out that all the hype is absolutely justified and the watch totally blew me away! Here are some photos right after I got home from sizing at the Omega Boutique King of Prussia last night. Photos just do not do the dial justice! You have to see it in person. I will probably wear it to the next GTG. Without further ado, the Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo-Soyuz 35th Anniversary LE...
3569.31 Case Diameter Question
Interested in this watch (the 35th anniversary Apollo XI white dial), but I read where the case diameter is 39.8mm and not 42mm as listed on the Omega website (their website also lists the watch as having a date function, which it clearly does not have, so it makes me wonder if they got the diameter wrong as well). Any help appreciated; I really like the look but don't want it to be too small.
I must admit...I'm confused
What are Rolex and Tudor doing? BB Fifty-Eight? I mean it's basically a re-do of the original Turdor Sub and a cheaper alternative to a Rolex Sub. And the Tudor GMT Pepsi? I mean...is this just a money grab since the recent boom in popularity of the GMT Pepsi? Further, I think it's silly for anyone to say the Sub is better. How better. $4k better for a SS model? Are the differences really that vast? Isn't it like comparing a car that goes 0-60 in 5 seconds vs. one that goes 0-60 in 4? How many people really need that 1 second? Can anyone say GMC and Cadillac? I guess there's a market for both...
