Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Grand Prix Watches
This year Audemars Piguet is of the brands releasing a lot of new watches. The most visually exciting of which is this Royal Oak Offshore Grand Prix watch collection. Each is in a limited edition, so these aren't permanent additions to the collection. There are three luxurious versions and I have for you the hands-on experience. Let's start with the basic options. Each has ceramic and lots of forged carbon, but I will get to that in a bit. You have a choice of complimenting it with titanium, 18k pink gold, or platinum. These come in a limited edition of 1750 pieces, 650 pieces, and 75 pieces, respectively. Clearly titanium is going to be the biggest and most affordable seller, and I will explain why.The "new" luxury watch doesn't need to be a giant paper weight. Sure it can be heavy as is typically valued, but lightness is in. Years of giant metal watches have consumers lashing back, not for smaller watches, but for ones that are lighter. After spending $50,000 on your new golden love,
Question about straps
Hey Guys, need your advice on straps. I went to the AD this weekend and they finally got back to me regarding straps. I want to order the singapore F1 strap, however the lady at the AD told me that it's for the deployant buckle. I told her I wanted a tang buckle instead. Are the straps for AP interchangeable like that? I'm ordering the short version if that matters. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
NY Limited Editions
I will admit to being Patek-curious and somewhat intrigued by the 5522A. I know there were 600 released and they sold for about $21.5k and are currently about double that in the For Sale forum. The 5230G NY edition was limited to only 300 pieces and was offered at $53.2k and is currently available for about $70k here.I know the original price points are very different, but am surprised that the % premium for the WG world time model is somewhat less than the SS Calatrava pilot's watch. Does this surprise anyone else, or is it a case of SS being hot combined with the more fan friendly original entry point of the 5522A?
PAM 375? What say you?
I had a chance to handle a PAM 375. Its quite nice and low profile. Felt like it sits closer to the wrist than other 47mm 1950 case (372, etc)Anybody has one? How does the composite case hold up?
What do you think of this Pam00164
So I have made an exchange with a friend for this .OP6763 Pam 00164 limited edition. I must say I never thought I would like a Panerai, never wore one but saw many videos about it and I was not much impressed. As soon as I put it on my wrist I had the same feelings of Lord of the rings (precious ring) lol. It's not as heavy or big as I thought it's, even it's 44mm but it felt great. And I felt in live instantly. When I had the exchange in mind I was thinking of a flip, I did the exchange with Ulysse Nardin blue wave limited edition..but when I had it on my wrist, I said this one will stay.. at least for a while.
