Seiko Astron GPS Solar Chronograph Limited Edition Watches
When it comes to quartz-driven watches that maintain accuracy via some sort of outside reference input, you have traditionally been limited to watches that receive atomic timekeeping signals from observatories around the world. That changed in 2012, with Seiko hooking their watches up to GPS satellites. Two years down the road, we now have a new limited edition Seiko Astron GPS Solar Chronograph?in a "his and her's" design configuration.Debuted at Baselworld 2014, Seiko released a new movement for the Astron. Many times, when we talk about a new movement, we focus on the mechanical side of the house, as those (traditionally) hold the most interest C but that is not to say that quartz movements cannot offer interesting developments. The Astron was an extremely important and highly impressive step forward, and now,?Seiko actually managed to downsize it with their new 8X82 caliber, all the while increasing ease of use (in particular, time zone switching). The size reduction is due mostly
Photo Report: The Seiko Credor Minute Repeater, Live At The Madison Avenue New York Boutique
Sure, Seiko makes a lot of watches, and as we reported not long ago you can get an absolutely astonishingly well made watch from them – mechanical, with one of the toughest and most reliable movements on the planet – for under a hundred dollars. When watch enthusiasts talk about Seiko, it’s often in terms of great bang for the buck, and indeed, Seiko deserves the reputation it has for offering excellence at just about every price point at which it makes watches. Whether it’s a humble Seiko 5 or a top of the line Grand Seiko, the company has a knack for a certain kind of old-school, almost mom-and-pop earnestness about giving their clients more than you would expect for the price. Sometimes a lot more. 1 OF 18 However, Seiko also makes watches under the Credor name that occupy the sort of stratospheric price bracket generally reserved for only the most exotic or refined complications from blue-chip Swiss brands. Two of the most interesting of those
How important is the new 5 year warranty to you?
I thought this might be an interesting topic since AP recently started the new 5 year warranty. Since AP service costs so much and their movements seem to be a little less reliable than say a rolex imho I think the 5 year warranty adds a significant value to the watch. I don't mean to say that Rolex is a better movement but just that it is more simplified and requires fixing less often from my experience. Say you were looking at two AP watches to buy. One is from 2016 and one is from 2017 and both are LNIB. the 2016 watch only has 2 years left on the warranty while they 2017 watch has a full 5 years. What is 3 extra years warranty on an AP worth to you in terms of $$$? To me it is EASILY worth $1000. Do you agree?
First AP thoughts - Pics from browsing at AD on a lazy Sunday
Love the RG 41MM RO with blue dial, and the AP guys will give me a 18% discount. Really tempted. What do guys think?
Where is pam 356???
How come pam356 (chrono daylight) is not on the panerai website anymore?I think its a great piece. Anyone else likes panerai with 3 meters in the dial? (Forgive my noob language, similar to daytona is what i mean)
