Watches NEWS
Sadly my longtime favorite dealer is hanging it up
Jim at Continental Jewelers in Washington, DC, has decided to close out his watch business. As many of you recall, Jim's leased location was demolished for new construction several years ago. Because of his age (he will be 83 in October) and Omega's move from ADs to boutiques, Jim decided not to go with the expense of a new show room which meant losing his AD status with Omega. He has been able to continue business as usual but now due to his wife's illness, his intent is to be closed down by the end of the year. He has a couple of hundred watches that he needs to move so if you are looking for a new one, now is the time to give Jim a call.Jim asked me to thank all of his customers and forum friends for their prayers and support.
2nd Patek Watch
Hi Guys,I have a Patek 5980/1A and 5711 but looking to sell my 5711 to fund another patek. I'm looking for a subtle and conservative watch (people know its a patek but i dont really want to attract attention) that i could wear every day to work. Below are some of the potential candidates:1. 5227 RG in ivory dial2. 5164 steel3. 5167 steel4. 5167 RG5. 5146 G6. Lange 1 in white goldTo give you a background im in my early 30s and I currently own 5980, 5711 (selling soon), Breguet 7727, Daytona, Ap 44 FC and Ap Diver. I would really appreciate your suggestions. Im really confused.
Aquanaut 5165
The 5165 is the 38mm rather than 40mm version of the Aquanaut with the same style integrated rubber strap. I think this was only produced for about 3 years. Given its relative rarity should one expect it to have higher values in the open market? I'm looking at a potential trade and have no idea what to expect.Any thoughts would be welcomed!
PAM 00673 thoughts
I have been looking at the PAM00673 and really like it. There doesn't seem to be much posted on the forum about it. Limited to only 1000 pieces I would have thought that the watch would be more sought after.Do you own one, have you looked at one or why did you choose not to purchase? Really looking forward to any feedback. Thanks.
Faded Pepsi bezel inserts circa 2000
Anyone knows if this guy's claim is of any value (regarding the on-purpose fading from Rolex)?'m asking because my A serial from 2000 has got the exact same faded bezel insert as the one we see on these pictures. I bought the watch from the original owner, who rarely wore it in over 15 years, and I thought it was odd that the red portion of the bezel has faded so much while the blue part remained crisp and dark. Cheers Nick
