Hamilton Ventura XXL: Blue Hawaii for the 21st Century
2010 would have been Elvis’s 75th birthday, and to mark the occasion, Hamilton is producing two new versions of the Ventura, made famous by the King in his 1961 movie “Blue Hawaii”. One commemorative model is a quartz-powered replica of the original. My focus will be on the second piece: the cool XXL Edition. The styling has been updated with larger dimensions, a gunmetal PVD case, and a perforated dial that lets the automatic ETA 2824-2 movement see a bit of sunlight. The XXL’s smooth, angular case flows into the black rubber strap. The curved crystal is sapphire, and the watch is water resistant to 50 meters. A touch of red stretches between 12 and 3 and carries over to the tip of the seconds hand. Black and white dials are available. The Ventura XXL will only be produced for one year. If you’re looking for something a little different, it’s priced at $1145, and it will be in stores in October. N.O.A Skell And Ghost Watches
We recently introduced the N.O.A Ghost collection of watches for 2013 with a sneak peak shot of the skeletonized, skull-emblazoned dial. Now you get to see the full collection along with the sister Skell collection of timepieces. Let's get some initial confusion out of the way. First, the collections are pretty similar save for the skull on the dial, which one collection has, and the other doesn't. N.O.A was smart enough to realize that the Punisher-style logo on the face was good for some, but certainly not all customers.N.O.A will also release the same pieces without the skull. So here is where it gets confusing. The new piece with the skull and crossbones motif is called the N.O.A Ghost collection, while the watches without the skull are the Skell collection. Probably would have been better the other way around, but it wouldn't be the Swiss watch industry without quirks. You'll notice that the Skell and Ghost collections will be offered in a range of colors mixing black, white, and r
Hour Vision - Anyone own one?
I have been interested in this watch, but unfortunately have not seen one in the flesh. I live in the 12th largest city in the US, but there is no longer a single Omega AD in town, and not even one within a few hours drive! So, I thought I'd see if anyone here has one, and find out what they think of it, and if they have any wrist shots etc.I am particularly interested in comparisons with a Datejust.
Grail Arrival
5980/1A (to cut to the chase!)After 30 years of collecting, and several years of lusting, I am left with two watches that belonged to each of my Grandfathers, one that belonged to the priest that married my wife and I, a 40th birthday present from my wife, and finally this:This is the ONE. I will probably rotate 3 of the other 4 watches on rare occasions (the 32mm Elgin military doesn't keep good time). But with these exceptions, this will be my daily, my week-ended, my dress-up, my dress-down...you get the idea! The Aquanaut and Calatrava (and most of what little watch fund cash I had) have been traded for my dream watch. Lots of Rolexes have come and gone, none remain. Omegas and (don't judge!) Wittnauers too (vintage Wittnauer is my favorite budget Swiss watch when I go through that phase).Hard to believe I finally made my goal. For a guy who constantly ribs other members about what's next, it's odd to feel there is no next. A temporary situation to be sure! Thanks to all for letting
Basel - 126610LN and 126660 prediction
Prediction, this year change with the 3-day movement for sub and deepsea to 126610 and 126660. But the outlooks will remain the same.Sure the price of both will go up for around 15%+ so that sub, sd, and ds prices will have an even difference between each others. The same logic apply to sub no date to 124060.Thoughts?
