Daytona decision time...
As some of you will remember, back in June 2015 I hatched a plan with my good lady wife over a wine-fuelled afternoon in London. The plan was to develop a savings plan that would enable me to add a Royal Oak and Nautilus to my collection, with a birth-year Sub 5513 to follow.The plan has worked very well in terms of funding, but less well in terms of ending up with the target collection!Since that day, I have added a Daytona 116500, a Silver Dial Royal Oak 15450, a blue dial Royal Oak 15450, and a Reverso; as well as adding an IWC Portofino to my wife's small collection.It all started to go wonky when they brought out the new Daytona (I know Paddy, it's not really new!) just as I was about to buy a Royal Oak. Following the Daytona diversion, I purchased a silver dial 15450 because I didn't think I'd be able to get a blue dialled one as they had only just been announced. Bought a Single Red Sea Deeller At AD...not a review - some thoughts.
I'm not going to go in depth , as there are specs & tech info all over this forum & elsewhere.I bought the SRSD sight unseen.Apart from its tool watch presence it's also a very attractive (dare I say) pretty watch. Lots of ceramic (plus crystal) reflections as well as the bling of an unscratched metal bracelet. Is the ROLEX steel brighter than normal stainless steel or am I just looking at it through Rise-Coloured-Glasses?...I can't stop looking at it & admiring all the many details I know I'll fall in love with over time. As for the cyclops, sure it'd be perfect without one, but certainly not a deal breaker at all.The balance is perfect as the back sits into my wrist so fits even better than I expected. I had an original SD (before the SD4K) & lusted after one for 6 years before I could buy one...this is my return to RLX as a brand & am loving every second of my new baby .For everyone on a waiting list or seriously considering- you won't tegret it.
