Close-Up: the $150, Swiss-Mechanical Swatch Sistem51
One of the most buzzed-about new watch launches in recent years is the Sistem51, a new mechanical watch from the Swatch brand. First released in Switzerland, the Swatch Sistem51 became available at U.S. retailers in 2014. In this article, we explore what makes these watches fascinating. There are three main features that make the Sistem51 noteworthy. First, like the original Swatch quartz watches, it has only 51 components, whereas most mechanical watches have upwards of 100. Also like the original Swatch, its assembly is entirely automated. Finally, it will cost just $150.?The four models are Sistem Red, Sistem Blue, Sistem Black and Sistem White. The red and blue models have translucent plastic cases and black silicone straps with accent-color stitching. Their dials are black with a red or blue central seconds hand, respectively. The bezel is in black plastic with white Super-LumiNova hour markers. Through the caseback, a transparent crystal rotor is visible, as well a printed star-b
Cartier Treasures In Beijing September 5 – November 22
An exhibition of Cartier treasures will be on display at the Palace Museum in Beijing September 5 – November 22. The exhibition includes more than 350 items, including archives dating from the founding of Cartier to its creations from the 1970s. Partly dedicated to royal jewels, the exhibition will be housed in China's former Imperial Palace and will be illustrated by historical documents relating to European royal courts, which earned Cartier thanks to King Edward VII of England, its reputation as the Jeweller of Kings and King of Jewellers .Some of the items selected highlight the Chinese influence on Cartier creations: lacquer ware inlaid with mother-of-pearl, ancient carved and engraved pieces of jade, and divinities and fantastic animals created by the jeweller's hand. These creations represent the bonds that have existed between Cartier and the Far East since the beginning of the 20th century. The distinctive creativity, style and expertise of the jeweller are illustrated
Your Thoughts On This New ROO
Can't decide if I must have this watch or it's just too crazy. Your thoughts. I think I like the color combo. It's a limited edition (300) so probably couldn't get it anyway. Montauk Highway is the model
My mind is set, now where to get it?
So my mind is set on this seamaster 300m diver and I heard Omega is going boutique only, so the chance of getting good discount watches from either AD or grey is getting smaller as times go by. Therefore I have to act fast.So where would be a good place to get this watch? I would prefer AD if they can compete with grey's price. However, if I can get a bargain from grey seller, i wouldn't really mind.Btw, is this model still being produced? style number: 212.30.41.20.01.002Any input is greatly appreciated !
Thoughts on strap change?
Hi all. I have a 5396 in white gold. The AD sent me a beautiful authentic Patek alligator strap in golden brown that would go great with a belt and shoes I have. The strap itself is only about $400 CAD and I'd be looking at about another $5000 CAD for the gold clasp and other hardware. This would allow me to change the strap on the fly and allow me to coordinate better. I'll post pics of the strap when I get home. Thoughts?
