Quincy Jones Visits Audemars Piguet
This past Thursday, on the eve of the traditional Swiss watch industry vacation, a longtime friend visited the watchmakers of the Manufacture Audemars Piguet to get an up-close look at the watch bearing his name: the Millenary Quincy Jones, which was presented at the SIHH 2010. For several years, Audemars Piguet and Quincy Jones have been associated in developing Project Q , aimed at raising political and public awareness of young people's need for self-expression and the means that must be provided to ensure they fulfill their potential. The cornerstone of Project Q is the Q Prize , an international award presented by Audemars Piguet honoring a public figure or social organization having played a central role on behalf of children. Through his Quincy Jones Foundation, the artist is also committed to helping children by improving their well-being, their health and their dignity. The new Millenary Quincy Jones watch will contribute to raising funds for this foundation. In speaking of
Get Political With A Breguet Ref. 3137 Watch Available On James List
I have been fascinated with this Breguet watch model since I wrote an article on Luxist a while ago about how it was seen on the wrist of Russian president Dmitri Medvedev. By the way, the above image is from Antiquroum via this webpage here. You can blame Breuget for not having enough images of their watches floating around the internet. So you probably know that Breuget is the king of "old school" watch brands. The love of Swatch Group kingpin (Chairman) Nicolas Hayek, and founder way back when by the father of modern watch making. Abraham Louis Breguet himself. The brand keeps mulling forth with classic watch creations that refuse to modernize - and that is a good thing. What is good is that Breuget watch prices aren't nuts. Sure you can get a $200,000 Breguet, but you can also get one for under $10,000. Clearly not cheap, but with enough savings many people can get one. This Ref. 3137 watch for example retailed for about $30,000 I believe, but is available for closer to $15,000 thes
Breitling Aerospace F65062 questions...
I have been taken by the somewhat 'vintage' looks of this Breitling Aerospace F65062 with the 'pro' bracelet. Current asking price is $937.00, and looks in clean and very good condition (from the photos) with all original boxes and papers from original owner.I know that the watch is from 1996-2000 and is non-COSC, but same movement as later COSC. It has the 'Navy colored' dial with gold lettering, non-italic number fonts, 18k gold 15 minute markers on bezel. I am also aware of the possible moisture issues with the 'pressed-on back'.It radiates to me like an old but comfortable pair of quality made shoes, if that makes any sense. Got 'unique daily beater' written all over it.Any current/past owners have anything I should know about why I possibly should not go see (and purchase) this watch...? Original Railmaster Find...
My friend showed me a recent find. It's been in a bank vault for approx. 20 years. Omega Railmaster. Never serviced, all original dial. Does anyone know about these watches. I like the look of the oscillating rotor, it's definitely vintage= note the original caseback gasket....
Anyone wearing a 499?
I'm getting ahead of myself here but I'm thinking of a second PAM (I haven't got my first yet!).I don't have anything with a white dial and I think it would make a nice change and a great addition to my stable. My ideal reference would be a 312 or 1312 with a white dial and the 499 (or new 1499) seems to be the closest option
