Chronoswiss Timemaster Chrono GMT Limited Edition Watch
Chronoswiss is likely a brand that doesn't need much introduction, even though we don't hear much about them. ?I've reviewed some of their collection in the past, and they are well thought out pieces with impeccable construction and high-quality materials. ?Their latest model, a special edition to commemorate a trans-global adventure, follows that same path. This new model in question is the Timemaster Chrono GMT S-Ray 007 (product page), created especially for Iren Dornier, a pilot and adventurer who's embarking on an around-the-world trip in an amphibious plane to raise awareness (and funds) for a charitable project. ?While much of the Timemaster line already hews closely to a vintage aviation aesthetic, the input of Dornier has created a model that looks to draw even more inspiration from aviation. For starters, the dial was designed to resemble an artificial horizon, with a midline separating the gray and black halves of the dial. ?This is set within a 44mm (16.5mm thick) DLC-coated
Inside The Manufacture: A Visit To Audemars Piguet In Le Brassus
Audemars Piguet occupies a very interesting place in the pantheon of modern watchmakers. It is truly independent, with two members of the Audemars family still playing an active role in the manufacture's development. It balances watchmaking of the very highest order – think tourbillons, advanced escapements, and grand complications – with watches immediately recognizable to the average person on the street. And it has remained entrenched on home soil in the small village of Le Brassus, situated right in the heart of the Vallée de Joux. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting Audemars Piguet's storied home and it's a pleasure to share my journey with you here. 2 OF 57 There are two main facilities in Le Brassus, one housed in the original manufacture from 1875 and the other a more recent addition from 2008. The former houses the restoration department, the museum, the Audemars Piguet archives, and a dedicated tourbillon workshop, while
Hands-On: The Tudor North Flag, With Tudor's Own In-House Movement
When HODINKEE got its first look at the North Flag in Baselworld last March, it was one of the biggest stories of the show – Tudor was launching not only a new model, but its own in-house movement, which were both major firsts. We’ve been able to spend a bit more time with the watch over the last week, and we’ve got a somewhat broader perspective now on exactly what this watch means to us, and what it might mean to you. 1 OF 9 The North Flag is the tip of the spear of an effort by Tudor, which has been unfolding for us since the brand’s re-entry into the U.S. market was announced in 2013, to come out from under the shadow of The Crown – an effort that has clearly paid off. It feels, however, like the company has been here longer than that – of course, Tudors were sold in the US market for decades, leading up to 1996 when it left, and the 2010 international launch of the Heritage Chronograph was the beginning of an absolutely massi
A. Lange & S?hne Opens Third U.S. Boutique In Miami Design District
This month, German manufacture A. Lange & Söhne is opening its third U.S.-based boutique, this one in Miami’s Design District. The boutique is the brand’s fourteenth retail location in more than 60 countries throughout the world, and will provide access to everything from base 1815 three-handers to complicated novelties. The newest location in Miami joins U.S. boutiques located in Palm Beach (see our photo report of that location here) and New York (see our video report here). 2 OF 3 The newest boutique features signature colors, textures, and surfaces in order to invoke a suitable representation of the Saxony manufacture. It’s an environment that reflects the identity of Lange itself through innovative technology and traditional craftsmanship. The boutique will provide an impeccable environment for those discovering the brand for the first time, as well as those already familiar with it. 3 OF 3 “The new site is an important
Hate it when this happens...
How do you feel when you see the occasional good deal on ebay....ebay/itm/Audemars-Pig...vip=true&rt=ncI understand people need to make a living, but I don't like to see the hobby turned into a place to turn a quick profit, especially when no additional value is being added (this gent did not even bother cleaning/wiping the watch). Just my opinion, would hope good deals go to appreciative collectors. What is your take on the subject?
