SM300 - Memorial Day Tribute
I'd like to take the time and post a thread tributing the late LTC George A Finter.I do not know, nor have I ever known the Colonel. What I can tell you is that he was killed in action in Vietnam in 1970. I acquired his SM300 through an estate auction last week and it was everything I thought it could have been. The watch had been in storage since his personal effects had been sent home and for the first time in 43 years I cracked open the case back yesterday. I have never seen anything so sterile since I started my little journey a few years back. My original intention was to flip, but after receiving the watch on Friday I began to struggle with that decision. My problem is that I am not a watch collector. I know that this watch is a collectible specimen that would command top price. I know that it deserves to go to someone who would appreciate not just the lineage of the watch and its history, but the immaculate condition that it presents. This is no daily wearer, and the minute it be
Aqua Terra "Golf" experiences needed
I have the new Aqua Terra Golf on the way to me - Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with the improved models With Co-Axial and screwed bracelets? Being an avid Rolex collector I havent really been into Omega for a looong time, but Rolex pricing forces me to look for alternatives..... And for the price I'm having a difficult time finding a better alternative than the Aqua Terra. I'm really liking the subtle green details on the Golf version. Kinda makes it stick out out a bit, much like the 16610LV withich is one of my favorite Rolexes...Thanks guys/BawlaDK
Wearing a Patek everday
Hello,My personal goal watch is a Patek Phillipe 5960p in Platinum with the grey dial and brown strap.I currently have a Rolex Daytona as my daily watch, it's comfy and strong. It's scratched but that never bothers me as its made for handling any situation whether its formal or casual, gym or beach. After achieving(forceable future) my personal goal of getting a Supercar and Superwatch. The Supercars are meant to be used for special occasions or weekends(basically whenever the weather is great). However will the honeymoon effect with cars and watches be the same, I know if you drive a Ferrari on a daily basis it wont feel as special as an owner who reserves the car for special occasions (Bring the big guns out).If I get a 5960p would it be advisable to use on a daily basis, how is the platinum to scratches. The SS of Rolex can be polished every-now and then and will look brand new.
Thoughts on Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue
Gotta say this quirky watch is growing on me. I know it's a bit thick but still like it a lot. Any comments from owners and pictures would be appreciated.
