Ikepod Thunderbird Chronograph: Quality Watch To Compliment A Not So Quality Car
Ikepod is the watch brand behind industrial designer genius Marc Newson (from Australia). Ikepod watches each have a monocoque cases which means that the entire movement and dial are inside one unified piece of metal (for the most part). The look is a hip looking bulbous orb that looks like a "time" capsule on the wrist. While by no means inexpensive, you get a true "designer" look with Ikepod watches, which stress form and function.A few years ago when Ford re-released the Thunderbird, they commissioned Ikepod to create a limited edition series of watches for the release. Apparently Ford realized that the target audience for the attractive to look at, not so fun to drive coupe would be aging Americans who perhaps had fond memories of the originals. Bye Bye Panerai... Hello Diver!
Loving it thus far...
How big are your wrists for the 42mm ROO? And which is most popular?
I have sub-7 inch wrists (more like 6 3/4) and it's been a long time since I've tested the ROOs... I recall not being able to pull off the Diver probably because it was 44mm.So how are you smaller wrists able to pull it off? Do you go for the bracelet which appear to be more forgiving or do you special order the short strap? And which is most popular (or more popular) - the BB, Volcano, Panda, or Safari? I'm not very fond of the Rubberclad and I can't pull off the 44mm ROOs...There's also a grey on grey dial ROO 42mm... Not sure what it is called. Thanks for the help... And any pics are welcome to enable!!
Liquid Metal?
Up until now, I've preferred all things Rolex. Now I'd like to branch out a little into Omega. I like the looks of the liquid metal Planet Oceans, but I don't know enough about them to know what to ask for. Were they just a limited edition or do all Planet Ocean watches have that same finish? Thanks!
