Bring a Loupe: Chronometers And Chronographs From Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, Universal Geneve, And Many Others
The watches you see today in Bring A Loupe don't joke around. You can expect to find the aptly named Chronometre Royal from Vacheron Constantin with all its original chronometer certificates. No less precise is the Zenith 40T, a testimony of this manufacture's ability to reach extreme precision. We also bring you a full set Daytona, and a far-from-perfect Universal Geneve Uni-Compax. This is your Bring A Loupe for April 1, 2016. A Zenith Chronometre With Caliber 40T 1 OF 11 The dial of this Zenith reveals so much about this chronometer, even quoting the name of its caliber 40T in a very interesting script above the seconds sub-register. Zenith boasts incredible credentials when it comes to chronometer movements, its caliber 135 notably winning the chronometer competition from the Neuchatel Observatory for nothing less than 5 years in a row, from 1950 to 1954. The 40T is of smaller dimensions but displays the same level of quality and precision, through a simple ye
So I was at the Taipei 101 boutique...
over the weekend on holiday and this happened! A proud owner of the black ceramic diver finally. Been trying to get one since the debut. Tough one to come along. While I was there I saw the Perpetual Chronograph offshore in Titanium... Only 35 made. I didn't buy it but darn it's now messing with my head. arhhh... I had plenty of compliments on the RB2 I was wearing... Maybe I should have initiated a trade on my RB2 and extra cash instead and bought the Perpetual too... Who knows, maybe you'll see another incoming thread from me soon...
AP No. 2? Confused...BB/Volcano/Panda
AP community - I've come for advice (aka enabling and empowerment that only TRF knows how to do). I picked up my first AP (RO 15400) last month and am loving it. Since then I've been looking for a more casual/weekend watch. So this weekend I tried on a Diver at the Bal Harbour boutique, but was not so happy with it. My major issue was not liking the screw-in crown at the 10. Naturally, I then proceeded to try on a few others. I didn't think I wanted any more chronos as I have a daytona on which I never use the chrono feature. Tried a BB and a Volcano (wanted to see a panda but they didn't have one). I have to say though these ROOs are big gorgeous watches - and not to mention how the chrono dials look on the tapestry and the recessed date wheel . I'd have to say that the panda is probably the one I'd be most interested in because of the color scheme being a little more down to earth and I'm not sure I love a carbon forged case (maybe an acquired taste that will grow on me). I did it again!
Just added this to complement my 5167a. They are very different and not redundant (mike!)First impressions: Bracelet is very comfortable - the links are smaller than Rolex, so its contours better. The second hand changes colors, from red to blue to steel. The dial changes hue at every angle. Heavier than the 5167a and bracelet makes it feel more solid.
