Japanese Miyota Targets Swiss ETA With Caliber 9000 Series Watch Movements
For about 10 years ETA has been threatening to stop supplying third-party (outside the Swatch Group) watch brands with movement kits. The horological drama has been high, with the Swiss government weighing in several times, and ETA seemingly going back and forth with what they are going to do. Before Nicolas Hayek died, the latest was that ETA would no longer be supplying (ebauches) movement kits to third party watch brands, but they could get assembled kits. There were rumors that he actually would be giving kits to select outside Swatch Groups brands that he hand picked. Then he died, and now it isn't clear who will get ETA movements and how. Whatever the fact may be for the next few years, watch brands that used to rely on ETA movements have been looking elsewhere for alternatives. This is because completed movement kits from ETA would be much more expensive and much harder to get.One place many have looked to is Japan. While Japanese movements don't have the name prestige that Swis
The Best Swag Of Baselworld, 2016 Edition
This time last year, we went ahead and named the best swag of Baselworld 2015 C it was a flask from NOMOS, and it was full of rum. Now NOMOS is back again this year with what is a pretty nifty little Baselworld survival kit, each individualized for attendees of last night's kick-off party. What's inside? Awesome little artisanal items all hand-selected by the NOMOS team, and assembled by hand. 1 OF 2 So in addition to the USB stick and card holder, you have a pen, a comb, a piece of chewing gum, a coin to make a telephone call (if you could actually find a pay-phone), an ankle clip for riding one's bicycle in slacks, a shoe polishing cloth, and actually much more. 2 OF 2 The above kit is my own C for men C while the ladies kits looked like this. As always, NOMOS does things just a little different than anyone else here at Basel, and you gotta love that.

Panerai 127
What do we think of the Panerai 127? Worth it?
Cant tell the time, but do I give a hoot.
Finally wore my black dial 500 today.I know it's hard to tell the time quickly, but I couldn't care less. At times it takes two seconds, but I still push it to three. Honeymoon period obviously.Btw I'm not a race driver, solicitor or have a job that dictates telling the time quickly or covertly. So stare I can. I especially love gloss black dials. So for me It had to be black dial with black bezel. Those that buy white because they dig it, fine. Those that blindly buy white because of the higher resale value, even if they prefer black, behave yourself.Btw, this is all tongue in cheek. Long live the Daytona!(Sent from iPad, and iPad pic is too large - watch guy, not a computer guy!)
