Storm Mekon Watch
I was waiting for someone to do this. It was only a matter of time before the watch world was able to release a budget version of the Corum Bridge watch. Storm UK was the one that did it. Of course this is not a replica or the same watch, but the concept is the same. A mechanical watch with a thin bridge-style movement in an otherwise empty and see-through dial. It certainly looks cool on the wrist.Let's be honest, you can't precisely compare a Corum with this Storm Mekon. While they exist in the same thematic family, this Storm will never replace a Corum in terms of pure horology. Where the Mekon does win is digest-ability. For just a few hundred bucks you can have the look and feel of something that would otherwise cost many thousands. Most people can handle that.I don't necessarily get the name "Mekon." Is it pronounced "mech-on," or perhaps "meek-on." I want to say the latter because of the word "Yukon." Whatever, the pieces speak for themselves. Storm rustled up a mechanical movem
Sinn Introduces the 240 ST, 104 ST SA A, EZM 3F and 903 St B E
Last year at Basel, Sinn built on their collection by introducing watches boasting a lot of proprietary tech. Though admittedly cool, watches like the EZM 9 TESTAF and the EZM 13 were also very expensive, primarily because of all the technical elements Sinn packed into them. For 2015, Sinn returned to Basel with a slightly different strategy in mind, one focused on introducing more affordable entry-level pieces into the Sinn family. Most of Sinn's offerings this year were toned down and accessible both in terms of versatility and pricing, and include some variations of well-established pieces as well as a few entirely new models.Sinn 240 StThe 240 St is essentially the 3-handed brother of the impressive 140 St, Sinn's nod to their space flight history featuring their SZ01 movement. In case you don't know, the SZ01 is a highly modified 7750about 50% of the movement is rebuilt using Sinn parts that are manufactured in-house. What makes the SZ01 especially cool is that it is designed to

Two-toned leather diver! White dial SS diver! nice!
Have a look! My first Breitling!
Just arrived yesterday - a B01 Chronomat - gently pre-loved condition. I like the watch even more than I thought I would. The dial is fantastic, and I am finding it very comfortable. I have an aftermarket Hirsch strap on the way - testing how I like the strap before buying a Breitling black croc on deployant. Here's a wristy shot.
Interesting trip to pp ad
I swung into my locale patek ad today to price out an aquanaut. After talking for a bit he offered a 10% discount and stated that patek makes about 39000 watches per year and about 10% of those are in stainless steel which is why the discounts are low on the steel models, he also said that they can not keep aquanaut on their shelves and have a waiting list for when one does come in. The funny part is that as I was leaving he offered me 12% off a steel aquanaut on rubber if I paid with anything other then an Amex. I showed interest and he checked his computer for inventory and informed he does not have any at any of his stores ( which is what he had told me when I originally asked) but will call me if he gets one in. Other then the salesmen bs is there any truth behind his production numbers and steel vs precious metal numbers. Just curious.
