Hands-On: The Ultra-Rare Panerai Bronze 1000 Meter Prototype, Coming Up At Christie's New York T
One of the most unusual watches we’ve seen in a while is this bronze prototype – rated to 1000 meters’ water resistance – made by Officine Panerai in the mid-1980s, as part of a project to develop dive watches for the Diver Corps of the Italian Navy; the watch is going up for auction this week from Christie’s. It’s a pretty rare bird, but for our money what really takes it to the next level is that it’s a fantastic example of how utilitarian design can, when pushed far enough, transcend itself and produce something really exciting aesthetically, which is fundamentally what the appeal of Panerai is all about. 1 OF 4 Before getting into aesthetics, just from the standpoint of objective rarity and historical importance, it’s a pretty remarkable piece and would probably attract a great deal of attention. The story goes that in the early '80’s, Panerai’s chief of mechanical engineering, the famous Mr. Alessandro B
5990-1a or 5960-1a
Just picked up the 5980-1r but already thinking of other moves...(still need to move the skyD as part of the 5980-1r transaction as promised to the wife). Now thinking whether to swap the 44mm RG ROO and jumbo for a 5990-1a or 5960-1a. The only concern is 5990-1a may be too similar to 5980-1r but 5990-1a would allow me to wear to work as I usually do not wear gold to work. Seeking expert advice from all the great members of TRF.
How 'bout... yet more gold Royal Oaks?
Hello to TRF and the AP forum. I have been lurking around here for a while and have been enjoying all the photos and threads. As was suggested to me, and mostly because I enjoy participating in these kind of things, I wanted to poll your opinions on rose gold Royal Oaks. I have subscribed to the idea of having 2 or 3 really nice pieces that I wear regularly and I have decided that a Royal Oak must be one of them (maybe add a dress watch down the road). My current everyday watch is a white dial SS Daytona so looking for some variation and versatility. I don't mind waiting and saving but a 15202or is really the upper limit. I would only be wearing this when I know I won't be involved in any scratch inducing activities. As I have a small-ish and round wrist, the 41mm is out for me. If you think a rose gold RO is sacrilege then I have added an option for that as well 15300/15450:15202:25960 (I'd buy with a bracelet for both options):Go classic steel 15202:Any views or feedback appreciated

Is there any source for aftermarket 502T endlinks?
I've been looking 502T endlinks to use with a D series (no holes) 16710 GMT. Found some on Ebay, but $705 for just endlinks without a bracelet is more than I am willing to pay.Are there any aftermarket sources for 502T-equivalent endlinks?
