INCOMING!! - The amazing new Offshore Ceramic Anthracite dial!!
Hi Guys,Extremely pleased with my new obsession... the super cool, super sexy AP ROO Ceramic with Anthracite dial. This is a watch I have been drooling over ever since I first saw the release pictures back in 2014. The pricing though always left me debating whether I should go for RG instead. Anyways, I am so glad I went with my heart cause this watch is not only beautiful to look at, but is also extremely comfortable to wear as a daily.I have already owned the SS 44, FC 44 and the ceramic diver earlier and the finish on the ceramic casing is impeccable, but what really gets me about this watch is the quality of the dial which in my modest opinion has to be one of the best out there.I will let the pictures do the talking.Cheers,Abner
To flip or not to flip? That is the question
Most of you know that I've recently picked up a 5711 and I'm currently enjoying it very much. It definitely gets the most wrist time out of the few pieces that I own. I wake up every morning and head to the safe, look at both my Nautilus and my AP and I ponder for no more than half a second before I grab my Patek.I have not lost any love for the 15300 but I'm concerned that there are too many similarities between it and my 5711. So much so, that I would always prefer the Patek to the AP in any situation. So here's the dilemma. I've pretty much hit the wall for now on how much I'd like to invest into watches. I don't regret venturing into the world of haute horology but it has definitely limited me to the number of pieces I can possess at any one time. I'm also a person who craves variety and I'm always looking to achieve some sort of balance. While I'm very happy with my current collection I'm constantly thinking about what I can add/replace to have a more well rounded collection. So tha
Incoming 5711
I received a call from my AD last week to say my 5711/1A was available to collect. I’ve only been on the waiting list for 6 months although I’ve bought from them before. I collected the watch today I’m pleased with the look of the watch. It really looks smart with a long sleeved shirt or worn with a suit. The dial isn’t actually white although it photographs white. It’s more of a silvery, metallic off-white.I passed up the opportunity to buy one of these 2 years ago. Now they’re 6500 more expensive. Hindsight eh?My only quibble is the clasp. I think it could have been more elegant. I understand that Patek wanted an invisible mechanism to integrate seamlessly with the bracelet but I much prefer the clasp on my Aquanauts. That being said, today I’ve accomplished my grail watch leaving me which one more watch on my radar for the foreseeable future. (Patek Philippe 5120G-001)
VERSUS: Special Edition Modern Sea-Dwellers
Tenth edition of the VERSUS post/picture. What is VERSUS? Well, I thought it would be fun to compare two watches (and only those two watches) and discuss pros/cons by outlining the differences and getting folks' ideas/thoughts/opinions on TRF. We got folks here that have been collecting and studying these things for decades all the way to those who are just starting to venture into the crazy world of Rolex (and everyone in between). Therefore, it would be fun and educational! For this edition, we have a showdown of a couple special edition Sea-Dwellers. The Deepsea D-Blue reference 116660 and the 50th Anniversary reference 126600.Which do you prefer and why?Previous VERSUS:1. VERSUS: Submariner 1680 v. 166102.
