Omega Unveils its First 2016 Olympics Watch, the Speedmaster Mark II “Rio 2016”
The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are still two years away. However, Omega, which will be the Games’ official timekeeper for the 27th time, has already introduced its first limited-edition watch celebrating the Rio Games: the Omega Speedmaster Mark II “Rio 2016,” a chronograph watch with an in-house, co-axial movement. This special edition of the Omega Speedmaster Mark II watch released by Omega at this year’s Baselworld watch fair and inspired by a vintage Omega Speedmaster model from 1969 has a distinctive barrel-shaped case made of polished and brushed stainless steel. The crown and chronograph pushers are polished, and the steel bracelet, which features Omega’s patented screw-and-pin design and a foldover rack-and-pusher clasp, has both polished and brushed surfaces. Wearers can adjust the bracelet’s length by releasing the outer clasp and sliding the inner clasp.Beneath the flat, scratch-resistant crystal is a matte-black tricompax dia
How do you clean your patek watch on leather strap?
You cant hold it under running water for various reasons obviously. Do you just wipe it with a dry cloth?
Is Patek going away from deployant clasps on some complicatd watches?
I know people have commented on the fact that when Patek introduced the 5905 they removed the deployant claps in favor of the tang buckle (compared to the 5960P).However I recently saw a photo of the 5327 in the Revolution magazine and noticed it has a tang buckle, whereas the 5140 had a deployant clasp. Has any forum member seen the 5327 in person and can you verify that they indeed released the 5327 with a tang buckle?I wonder if this will be a trend or a cost saving measure. Personally I don't know if the 5327 with the thin 240 movement needs a deployant clasp, but it was nice to have one on the 5140.
Got a New 722
Just got a 722 with bracelet. Thought i'd post some pics since I haven't seen a lot of info about this model. 42mm and bracelet, very notPanerai . Recently sold 2 Rolexes and a Jaeger so I was looking to maybe purchase 2 new watches. 1 more expensive and 1 for whatever was left. I have had the 320 GMT before and was kind of thinking about Panerai again although it was a tad too big for my wrist. Was looking at the 682 but as it turned out I bought another watch on a rubber strap first so I needed something else. Went to the shop and tried on everything, found the 722 that just got delivered to the store and I am so pleased. 42mm, new bracelet which is very nice and it's a Panerai. First pic is of the 2 watches bought on Friday, 1 Panerai and 1 weird thing on a rubber strap:)Needless to say...Friday was a good day!
Took the plunge - new SD43
After weighing up the options, impatience got the better of me and I picked this up from a local non-AD yesterday. Extremely pleased with it!
