Introducing: The Sarpaneva Northern Lights Limited Edition In A Smaller, Red Gold Case (Interview, D
Did you look up at the sky last night? If not, you just missed a totally amazing lunar eclipse. It was not just any eclipse – it was a complete lunar eclipse with a super moon, or perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system, as the astronomers like to call it. Of course a syzygy – alignment of the sun, the earth, and the moon – happens every new and full moon, but to have an eclipse when the full moon is at its closest to the Earth is something that will not happen again until October 8, 2033. For the occasion of what is also referred to as a blood moon, HODINKEE sent journalist Mr. Anders Modig to moon-phase, moon-face maestro Stepan Sarpaneva, the independent watchmaker based in Helsinki, Finland. Just before the eclipse, Sarpaneva was freaking out. 1 OF 7 “In general I am super-sensitive to the moon, strange vibrations. This whole week I have really felt the moon rising. Father and Son's Seamasters
My father bought his Seamaster 30 (right) used in England in the late 60s and has worn it almost every day since. This watch saw a lot of action - He traveled from England to India overland and lived in India with it for years. We now live in the U.S. - this watch has been his constant companion. A couple of years ago, I bought myself a 30th birthday present of the Seamaster Planet Ocean 45.5mm with the 8500 movement. I had lusted after Planet Oceans since I first took a real interest in watches in my early 20s. The two watches are VERY different and I'm sure that individual tastes would side very much with one or the other, but I really enjoy the fact that we both wear Omega's from the same lineage. They reflect our personalities in their differences, but a commonality of family. Just felt like sharing these pictures as we had them together the other day and took a couple of snaps. Anyone else have family watch stories to share?

Rolex monitor grey market?
There have been some interesting threads here recently about 'flipping' and subsequent consequences (for AD and staff). I'm just curious - do you think Rolex SA or AD's monitor sales threads, or use other means to 'follow' recently sold watches? In the absence of a warranty claim its hard to imagine how they could.... I'd be interested in peoples views......
