Initial Impressions: Techn GosHawk (Ref. 411)
In January, Zach brought you his review of the Sparrowhawk by Techn Instruments, a unique and excellently designed chronograph featuring the rarely seen Seiko VK63 Meca-Quartz movement. ?As the Sparrowhawk managed to hit such high marks at a very reasonable price point, we are excited to have a chance to review another Techn ?creation, the GosHawk. ?Anytime a watch with an automatic mechanical movement comes in at unter $350, we take notice, especially when it's from a brand we enjoy as much as Techn. The Techn ?arrives in simple yet very well executed packaging. ?As was the case with the Sparrowhawk, the GosHawk is housed in a rounded soft clam shell case with foam insert. ?Simple, yet utilitarian, this package serves its purpose as a portable protective shell very well. ?This package is also accompanied by the same beautifully assembled manual that we found with the Sparrowhawk. ?Zach said it well in his initial impressions of the Sparrowhawk, "The manual that Techn has devised f

Doesn't seem to get much love. Is it too non-Panerai for the Panerai fans, and too Panerai for the unconverted? Here's the wrist shot:
Combo Rolex vs custom ABP for Daytona
Lucked out and found a brand new, stickered 116509 panda dial on strap at an AD. Had meant to pick one up when the discontinued the dial, but had other commitments at the time and had to pass. The standard strap it comes on is a bit too loose for my liking, even with the clasp adjusted. I know some members have had similar issues and ended up buying the short strap and then mixing the two for a better fit and centered clasp. For those folks - was the colour and grain match between the straps good? Just wondering because the straps would presumably be coming from different dye lots and hides. The other option would be to get a custom strap from ABP Concept. Price wise, not too far off and their reputation seems good.Any input and/or photos regarding either option would be appreciated.
