Botta Design Watches Available Through Kenmar Watches
It is easy to talk about nice watches, it is harder to tell you where to get them. If only the watch industry had volume and distribution like the electronics industry. Perhaps someday. Until that point, you'll hear from me when I learn about a store online selling a desirable watch brand. Of course you will also see me point to eBay auctions. The online watch store, Kenmar watches is now selling a full line of Botta Design watches which I discussed here. This is worth noting as Botta Design watches are among the best looking and Bauhaus minimalist watches around, and for an excellent price. Their designs earned them a Red Dot award, and I am happy to see them becoming more available. My favorite Botta Design watch is the Helios Plus, which incorporates a spirit of pure legibility. Adding everything you need without anything you don't. The hour and minute hands align perfectly with the number markers, while the seconds display is in a subsidiary position. The result is a perfectly balanc
Breitling Chronomat GMT New Model!
Breitling has finally released a new movement (sort of) with their 04 class! It resides in the new Breitling Chronomat GMT, which is just the day before. Its a terrible 47 mm Chronomat with a GMT complication. And as the Rolex GMT II and of the Omega Seamaster, the main hand of 12 hours is used for the local time and is indexed on the date, so it can more easily be used for travel. A nice touch and a good blow on a part of the Breitling do that instead the opposite is much less useful for travel. The only thing which lack this watch is a window 24 hours a day. Instead, you get a diving-account countdown bezel and 24-hour scale is printed on the dial. However, I think more interesting is the possibility that buyers can now purchase a Chronomat in a larger format 47 mm.
Introducing The Baume & Mercier Classima 10214
While we're all avid followers of everything SIHH, very few of us reached for our wallets when we saw the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater (let's take a collective sigh together and move on). Now, here's a scenario: You or someone you know is due to break into the world of mechanical wrist-wear by buying a classically-oriented dress watch. Let's also assume that you want to go Swiss, because of say...your penchant for national pedigree. You can spend quite a bit of time saving for an Ultra Thin Moonphase or, assuming that you're at least 30 years old, for a Villeret (like the one that we covered a few days ago). A third option is that you can indulge sooner and spend your entry-level years actually wearing a watch instead of waiting to wear one. That's where the new Baume & Mercier Classima 10214 comes into play. 2 OF 3 First, the Classima 10214 has design cues that are classically oriented and that often find themselves amenable to the semi-casual wa
Help with identification (approx age, maybe value, etc)
The watch I really need help with, I can't seem to upload (I'll try again tomorrow). But, I do have these pics of another Omega I received on trade last month. I was told it's from the 60's. It has an original sharkskin omega strap. Any help would be appreciated (value, age, etc). I want to get my other Omega on here for identification because it is my great grandfathers that was passed down to me (I don't want to sell it, just interested in an approximate time period it may have been made). I'll post again when I can get it uploaded...For now, here's my Seamaster Deville. Thanks for looking and info :)Andy
5196 lug width
Hello. Apoligies if this has already been asked before, but I plan to order a custom strap for my 5196G. Appreciate any advise on the lug width of the watch. Some of the available reaources online say it's 20.3mm. Others say it's 21mm. Strapmaker says 20mm should be fine. Thanks in advance.J
