Occasionally we come across brands that challenge the notions we have regarding watches and value. In the conversations we have, it's easy to overlook perhaps one of the most critical aspects of any watch, and dismiss it as not being a core value adder. That facet of a watch is simply design. A general term unto itself, this includes everything from the fine details to overall aesthetic to branding. It's so easy to get caught up in what movement is inside, what material is X or Y, we overlook that a watch's design might be derivative or a bit generic. We strive to look at an eclectic array here on w&w, but how often do we relate a detail to something from another watch, another point in time? Don't get me wrong, that approach has great value as well and I often love many of those watches, but isn't there and implicit value in something new? Insurance Appraisal Needed for RO 15300
Recently I went to an AP Boutique for an Insurance Appraisal (Royal Oak 153000) that I acquired six years ago. The response was we are not able to provide any type of insurance paperwork for this timepiece as we no longer have this model in production. Where should I go to get this document so I can submit to the insurance company? Thanks in advance.

Please help! PO Chrono - real??
Hi,I am considering taking a watch (~2009 Omega Planet Ocean Chrono, pictured below) on trade, and I am scared to death of the PO fakes out there. I tried it on and it feels well made. I am a Rolex guy and have no experience with Omega so I don't know what to look for. I snapped a quick pic with my cellphone, but it's not the best quality. It will come with box, papers, etc. No steel band, just the rubber one. Anyway, the guy seems really nice and knowledgeable, but you just never know with all the fakes out there. Is the helium valve in the correct place? What about the numbers/writing?Thanks a million!Ed

Guidance on a pre-owned Aquanaut
Have the opportunity to acquire a 2011 Aquanaut, model 5167 18-001, the so called jumbo. Pic below, not mine but I believe this photo is the model. Tried it on at AD, great condition, watch has had a Patek servicing, comes with original owner papers, highly reputable dealer in NJ, so I'm confident in the transaction. Price is just under $15k. Good deal?
