SIHH Preview: Vacheron Constantin Quai de lIle Retrograde Annual Calendar
Vacheron Constantin’s Quai de l'Ile collection offers contemporary design and a unique opportunity for owners to create their own distinctive example via a series of personalization options. For 2011, a new Retrograde Annual Calendar joins the collection, powered by the new Vacheron Constantin Calibre 2460 QRA automatic movement. Available in pink or white gold, or both if the customer desires, the 43mm case houses a new movement designed, developed and crafted by Vacheron Constantin, and bearing the Hallmark of Geneva. The 326-part Calibre 2460 QRA drives the hours, minutes and small seconds at 9 o'clock, as well as the annual calendar with retrograde date display, months and a high-precision moon-phase indication requiring correction once every 122 years. Equipped with a stop-seconds device (“hacking seconds”) to ensure precise time-setting, the movement runs at 4 Hz (28,800 vph) with a 40-hour power reserve. The ruthenium-plated 22K gold rotor is mounted on ceramic
Red tip?
I want to add a little color on my panda dial and was thinking of painting the tip of the sweep hand in red. Got the inspiration from a few pics out there but I realize that the tip of the speedy sweep hand is a bit longer. What do you guys think? Here's a quickly crude mock-up. What do you guys think?
speedmaster lume question
Hi Guys... my first post here on this thread. I have a speedmaster pro which i bought new in 06. I was checking it out the other day with my new loop and I see a tiny piece of lume missing on the 12 o'clock marker. Its so tiny but right in the center of the marker. I have seen missing lume on vintage Rolex before but never on vintage speedmaster. have you seen this before? does this happen often? will it get worse? can it be fixed?Thanks!!PS- wish i could take a pic and show you but I cant get my camera to focus that small
Incoming....5167
Just picked it up today from local AD. Got a slight discount. It will be a daily watch, how easily does the clasp scratch? I work on a mac and I'm afraid the keyboard part were I rest my hand will scratch against it. PP_5167A_1.jpgPP_5167A_2.jpgPP_5167A_3.jpg
Luminor vs Luminor 1950's caseback
Am thinking about my next watch purchase being a Panerai and have been looking at the different styles. It seems like (at least on this forum) that the more popular styles between the luminors are the 1950's caseback. Is there a particular reason why? Do they hold there value better? Is it because they have in-house movement?Appreciate any feedback.
