Ball and BMW Team Up For New Watch Collection
Ball Watch Company, whose history is rooted in the early days of train travel, has taken its watchmaking talents from the rails to the roads, collaborating with German luxury automaker BMW to introduce a new line of watches, called Ball for BMW. The Ball for BMW collection, whose development has been headed up by noted BMW designer Magali Metrailler, is heavily influenced by the aerodynamic lines and ergonomic details of BMW cars and their engines. The line is composed thus far of the Classic, a three-hand model with date; the GMT, with second time zone; and a Power Reserve model. All the watches have automatic ETA movements that have been certified as chronometers by COSC.The watches feature alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces and screw-down crowns that evoke the detailing on BMW dashboard knobs. The dial designs are also influenced by the cars’ dashboards and the shape of their disk brakes, and each features a BMW logo. The dials’ diamond-cut metal indices co
Cliff Diving With Red Bull And Maurice Lacroix
Eighty-nine feet up. I find myself perched atop a wood platform, baking in the Texas heat high above a lake a couple of hours west of Dallas. While I am relatively okay with heights, I seldom go out of my way to experience heights as any sort of challenge to my ego. I take a couple of steps forward and a slender man with long hair, an enviable tan, and a Red Bull backpack advises me to not go any further than the "Texas" logo on the platform. The reason? Insurance. Were I to jump, or perhaps more likely fall, from this plywood platform over Possum Kingdom Lake, I'd plummet for nearly 3 seconds while accelerating to 53 mph before crashing into the calm waters below, most certainly injured and likely unconscious.I traveled from the temperate climes of the people's republic of Vancouver, BC to experience a suitably outlandish event in the Lone Star state, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Tour. My companion and partner-in-crime for the weekend is a cool-headed Oregonian named Andre who scor
ROC Chrono Malfunction - any ideas why/how?
As I have posted, I just picked up an AP ROC 25860 and love it. The only problem I found out after I had completed my Daytona trade is that the minute hand on the chrono register does not advance past the first minute (everything works perfectly until 1 min, 59 seconds. Then the seconds hand of the chrono passes 12:00 and keeps going as it should, but the minute hand doesn't advance to 2 or any further). I checked it for about a minute and a half in the store so it appeared the chrono worked as it should. Now the dealer is dealing with it and will of course fix it, so that's not the problem. Not knowing that much about the drive of the chrono in these watches, I was wondering if anyone had ideas of what is going on or if they have had similar experiences? Thanks,Steve
Spare of the moment purchase
As a Rolex fan, I've not had a Panerai for the last few years. I sold my first and only PAM 104 to a work colleague about three years ago and bought myself a Sea Dweller with the funds.Years have passed and I've never gave any though to owning another Panerai, until last night.Whilst doing a weekly food shop I was drawn to the Panerai boutique window, once inside I looked at all of the high end Panerai's only to keep going back to the Submersible in the shop portal window. Anyway to cut a long story short within ten minutes I was a PAM 0024 owner and back in the Panarai gang again.Pictures to follow.
New Sub 114060 at AD uk?
Hi guys To cut a long story short Im looking to source a brand new submariner no date from an AD for my fathers 60th birthday / retirement. Here in the UK it appears as though there is a shortage of s/s sports watches. Ive done the obligatory ringing round. Any sightings within ADs? Ill travel nationwide for this time piece. Thanks S
